Another bright pair team on the horizon from Canada. I have not seen them skate yet, but look forward to it. Here is the article.

"Jessica Dube and Bryce Davison, in only six months of skating together, have established a reputation as one of Canada's best up-and-coming pairs teams.

Dube, 16, of Drummondville, Que., and Davison, 17, of Cambridge, Ont., earned enough points to qualify for the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating final in Malmo, Sweden, Dec. 12-14 by winning gold at meets in Mexico and Japan.

"Those were excellent results for a new team,'' says Bill Bridel, Skate Canada's athlete development director. ``It's a team that has gelled quickly and received a lot of positive feedback on their skating from the judges and other coaches at the events they entered.''

Dube won the Canadian junior title last winter with previous partner Samuel Tetrault of Iberville, Que. Davison skated previously with Claire Daugulis of London, Ont. When those partnerships dissolved, Dube and Davison got together. Dube has also been competing in women's singles this season and was sixth at a meet in Poland earlier this month.

But it is with Davison she is achieving her best results.

``They have a certain chemistry on the ice,'' says Bridel. ``They look great together.

``Their skating styles are a nice complement to each other and they are both strong singles skaters'' which is a bonus when it comes time to land difficult side-by-side jumps.

Other top point-getters during the eight-meet series were Maria Mukhortova and Maxim Trankov of Russia and Tatania Kokareva and Egor Golovkin of Russia.

Christopher Mabee, 18, of Tillsonburg, Ont., was the only other Canadian to advance to the final. Mabee was ninth in the senior division at the 2003 nationals. He earned the trip to Malmo by winning a meet in Slovenia and finishing third in another in Slovakia.

``He has what I'd consider one of the best triple Axels on the Junior Grand Prix circuit,'' says Bridel. ``He's been on this circuit for a couple of years and this year, with a really focused training plan and renewed enthusiasm, he had two really strong events.

``He's really a strong all-around skater. His jumps are strong and is a good performer, and he's found some consistency this year.''

It is Mabee's last season at the international junior level.

``He certainly has all of the qualities to do well on the senior Grand Prix circuit,'' says Bridel.

The top point-getters were Andrei Griazev of Russia, Evan Lysacek of the United States and Tomas Verner of the Czech Republic.

Favourites in women's singles will be Miki Ando and Mai Asada of Japan, Lina Johansson of Sweden and Americans Danielle Kahle and Kimmie Meissner.

In ice dance, Nora Hoffman and Amla Elek of Hungary, Natalia Mikhailova and Arkadi Sergeev of Russia and Elena Romanovskaya and Alexander Grachev of Russia amassed the most points. "
