I haven't watched yet day2, glad they skate their best. But what? I hope they are not moving there. I just can't see how that is gonna help them, when there are already Shibs there. Ugh, so many coach changes this season...

Wow....a move to Zoueva would be startling especially since she has the Shibs and Nik and Vik. I could see a move to Carol Lane; she has done some interesting work with Gilles and Poirier. Disappointing years for Weaver/Poje and Hawayek and Baker. The Angelina/Carmelengo camp may be looking elsewhere.

Great FD performance for W/P yesterday. I'm very happy for them that they ended the season on a positive note after a disappointing couple of competitions.

Well, I am glad too. But to imagine that they won the FD just barely over Chock/Bates on TES, but lost quite a bit to them on PCS which seemed unthinkable at the beginning of the season. Of course, it's US, just like Worlds, but it still seems quite telling. They're just not the Canadian number one team anymore.

In any case, they needed a coaching change already after the 2014/2015 season. Zoueva does not seem like a great choice if those rumors are true, but they don't have much choice at all now. I would have thought Lane or Platov, but, on the other hand, what could they really give to W/P? Especially Platov. Coomes/Buckland did not always have very good levels with him, even on lifts, and he did not fix or improve their twizzles (which Shpilband is obviously at least trying to do). Razgulajevs could give them (W/P) a new style, but could Lane really improve their elements and levels? Perhaps yes, perhaps no. And I am not sure that new style is what they need.

I'm not sure a change in coaching is needed? They need to figure out why they have peaked before the World Championships instead of peaking at the end of the season. They've not skated their best at the end of the season unlike other teams who give their best performances at Worlds. It seems like that's on them, not their coaches.

Precisely! I noticed the same thing - they peaked early and then gradually regressed. Cappellini and Lanotte did not benefit much from changing coach. Also, with their skating style and Marina Zoeva's coaching-choreographing approach, I think, they are bound to make major skating style adjustments and may suffer an unwanted setback. I think, Andrew has to learn to manage his nerves _ when he gets nervous, he messes his twizzles, etc..

Plus the rotational lift on one foot gets iffy when Andrew is nervous. I think they should replace it with something else. They have been doing it for several years, so its expiry date is close anyway..

seriously, I hope they're smarter than that...there is really no such need to make desperate moves and go bananas with coaching change and stuff for Kaitlyn and Andrew. The first thing is to realize that this was a very bizzare season in Ice Dance, especially regarding scoring - this was all over the place with those level 4s handed like candies, second is to reflect on that latest FD choices (if this is really stuff they're feeling comfortable in) and last - to let their fortes shine in good programs, not necessarily under different coach (especially Marina... see Anna and Luca fiasco 2014/15, this did not get them any favours and look at them now - charming themselves going places).

They just have to sit down and think a bit of programs which would be nothing but complimentary of their strengths: passionate connection, sparkling chemistry, vivid presentation, effortless transitions, then HIRE A BLOODY GOOD TECH SPEC - look at Shibutanis under Maurizio, their sharpness, confidence in execution and ease in presenting stuff is remarkable. When they will have tech issues sorted, they'll get this kind of confidence and ease in performance which I hope for.

Overall - really strong finish at TCC, very emotional moment, now they have to rest and gear up, looking forward to hear about their prospective programs :cheer:

There already is a bloody good tech specialist at DSC--about the best there is--and her name is Natalia Annenko. Sometimes it's a little simplistic to say just do the required turns in footwork and key points in patterns correctly. Precision is often a function of speed and difficulty. It looks like this season speed, difficult holds, and skating close together wasn't always rewarded.

Here's to a wonderful new season for WeaPo. For now I'm looking forward to their wonderful Get Low program.

apologies - had no deeper knowledge that N. Annenko is tech specialist in DSC...in that case you're right - precision and accuracy are keys, and to hold your nerves in check. And indeed - the speed, close holds, difficulty was not well rewarded and paid-off this season...My wish is also a great new season for Kaitlyn and Andrew - here's to amazing programs, great music choices, chemistry, energy and success!!!

Kaitlyn and Andrew are in France! https://www.instagram.com/p/BHPiiyXAxA8/ In a very good company of Florent and Denis. I must say, didn't except them being there  And tomorrow we will find out what GP assignments they wil get :hap10:

Now I'm curious are they there for choreo from Zazoui, Morozov, Schoenfelder? Or are they preparing for a show or is it just a working vacation at a camp Florent is hosting? Regardless of the actual answer though these two seem like genuinely very nice people and I hope to see them have a great 2016/7. :luv17: Nice and gorgeous is such a lethal combination.
