Looks like Rochette and Onda both made a mistake. :(

Joannie's marks aren't bad. She must have come back and landed the flip instead of letting the lutz get to her the way she did at Canadians. That's something. I wonder where they'll end up. This definitely opens the door for the Americans, and the other two Japanese skaters.

Yukari Nakano into second now, between Angela and Joannie. I wish we could see the marks...

Good lord, Angela looks buff in that news photo. I thought she had put on some body mass ( not fat, at all!) when I saw her in Atlanta. She looks determined! I Like it A LOT!

What a nerve-racking competition!

Been following the results over at FSU for the past 2 hrs. now and by the way I was acting, you'd think it was the Olympics (lol). (8^O Had all my talismans out, my "Believe" music on, and other various rituals. ;)

The way things have been going for Yoshie this season, even when she skates pretty good, has made me think that the judges don't value her as highly as when the COP wasn't in use. Btw, I know that this particular competition is using the 6.0 system, but I believe that the COP plays an influence (even if subconsciously) on the judges. JMHO. Though it doesn't help any when there's a fall no matter whom the skater. :)^(

***Note: the new COP system will redeem itself in my eyes if they make a few changes, most notably more points given for 3/3 combos., no credit for falls no matter what, and jumps underrotated less than a half counting w/the appropriate deduction being taken off rather than downgrading it to a double or triple (whatever the case may be). JMHO.***

Interesting to note that though Yoshie was ahead of both Joannie Rochette & Yukari Nakano on the technical mark, she was behind both on the presentation mark. *sigh* :( And it was this mark (presentation) that cost her a 5th place in the SP. Being a big Yoshie Fan, I have always acknowledged that she needs to work on this aspect of her skating. And she has ~ just not enough yet ~ but it will get there (if Irina could do it, so can Yoshie)! :) GOOOOOOOOOOO YOSHIE BEAR!!!!

***Note: I'm not surprised that Yukari is in 5th ~ as I mentioned in a previous thread, she excels in spins & has pretty good presentation (tad better than Yoshie's IMHO, though it pains me to say so) ~ CONGRATS, YUKARI!!! :) ***

Even though I was hoping for a Top 6 finish for Yoshie in the SP, so that she can be in the final group for the FS, she still has a chance to redeem herself & show the world what she is capable of! :)^)

Last note, what a genuine pleasure to see that 3 of the Top 4 are in their early to mid 20's (aka Amber C. = 25, Angela N. = 23, Jennifer R. = 27) ~ WTG, WARHORSES!!! :)^D I especially felt real good when I noted Amber's marks b/c she has been put down & criticized for far too long. And Angela as well, though from the comments over on FSU, it's easy to see that most prefer Angela to Amber. Heck, I honestly enjoy them both ~ simply love ALL underdogs (no lie) ~ no matter from whence the country or whom the skater. Always a pleasure to see the downtrodden believe in themselves & rise to the occasion. JMHO of course. :)^)

***Note: the best type of competition is when all skate clean. Thus, though I'm saddened for Yoshie, I'm happy for the ones that did skate clean. Now on to the FS :).***

Peace & Love, Nadine

:love:GOOOOOOOO ALL UNDERDOGS!!!
