In no order I think the three Russians will be .... I don't know. I do believe Evgenia will be there barring injury. I predict an Adelina major comeback next year. I think we will see a skinny again, hungry Adelina wanting to prove she did not win gold because it was the Putin Olympics. I think she's going all out in her training and will try to be the first repeat since Katt Witt. I don't think she will win But I can see her fighting to regain her technical feats and she's got the spins, flexibility, and would come back as champion and lady doing maybe a softer style. I see her wanting it bad.
Liza will fight hard and Mishin wants her gold badly. I don't see her as looking like the ladies champion unless she manages 3 perfect triple axels per competition next year. Still I see others surpassing her due to her style and look not being Olympic. I do think Polina Jr. World Champion is a good bet to be on that team. She is dynamic. I think if healthy she will blow people away on the senior GP this year. I really think Julia will not resurface as the it girl in Russia. Her tiny body helped her become that girl. No one will ever forget that season, her music, her purity or the costume. I don't think she can overcome the weight gain. Her body has betrayed her. I find her adorable and wish her well. She can prove me wrong.
I don't know the Russian juniors- I will have to read Russian ladies general thread- I think the Russian ladies dominance is here to stay. I hope Gracie Gold learns to compete by next year. I badly want to see an American medal. I think Polina is our best competitor with the right package.
But she will be going to college next year so I don't know if she is totally hungry. Satoko can compete. I see her as the best competitor in Japan. Mao is not going to get any breaks anymore I'm afraid.
I cannot imagine a Russian sweep in Korea but it sure is possible with their depth.
I wonder who our Russian posters feel will make the best team for Russia?
I believe our Trio will be and should be the three Oly veterans. All have the talent to medal. Caro Kostner did it with a less than perfect free skate. I think Ashley is truly enjoyed by the judges. Her World silver may be late in her career but I think it is possible. Gracie and Polina have the goods. But that's it I know.
It isn't too soon to start guessing the Russian trio. I hope I'm still around to see 2018! How exciting it will be to see Young You if that's correct spelling in two years. The singles events will be stellar!!!
