It's no scandal. She's sacrificed a lot of her natural artistry to get the technical side down. But if she gets to the point where she can master both at once, then she'll be a threat to anyone.

Psst did anyone see the shade Sasha Cohen threw on Mirai's Sochi chances? https://twitter.com/SashaCohenNYC/status/966861315548512256

Nice... I knew I love that girl!

Anyway....I feel for Mirai but I have a feeling that too much media attentions never a good thing. She needed to focus on her competitions and not distracted by all those interviews. Well....at least her team medal is so much deserved.

Congratulations! Hope she will stay for a few more years.

Lots of journalism being unkind to Mirai today. I was like "I still love you, Mirai" seeing her lovely extended spirals yesterday. People are so unkind and quick to turn on athletes.

she may not be close to the podium and I regret it because with her 3A she had the means she was well bttus and she to a silver medal

It's amazing how Mirai was the media's darling when she landed the 3A (and all her jumps) in the team event and now dumping on her b/c she under performed and isn't acting like her world is over b/c she didn't get an individual medal. I loved seeing her smile during her program, since she's been criticized for being stone faced.

As a fan, I'm disappointed that Mirai didn't do her best last night, but she could've done a lot worse besides popping two jumps. All her jumps otherwise looked great (especially her combos, which have given her trouble with URs). She's right to positively spin this - she's got a bronze medal eight years after her last appearance, which is an amazing accomplishment as well as making history with the 3A.

I'd love to know where she goes from here. I'd love to see her kick-butt at Worlds and then weigh her options about continuing to compete.

While the rest of GS continues to beat a dead horse, I think I will just stay in here. Don’t people have anything better to do than repeat their bad opinions repeatedly?

No. None of them understanding that repeating the same thing over and over again does not change anything. Why can’t they just accept her apology and move on?

I like this version too. There's one short comment after the 3A is landed, and then not a peep from the commentators until the end of the program. You also get a front facing shot of Mirai's face after she lands the final loop. Also the female commentator is ace but I may just be biased. :p

Proceed with caution; this sent me to a porn site when I clicked play.

I saw something sweet that Mirai did for Ross Miner at Nationals from this ESPN article. Shows how much she cares about her fellow skaters.

He wasn't at all sure that he wanted to perform in the gala traditionally held the final night of nationals, especially when he received a late invitation that felt like an afterthought. But then he got a message from Nagasu, who had faced the same situation four years ago. She created one of the most memorable moments of her saga by going through with her 2014 exhibition program, in tears but resolute about her future.

"Mirai texted me and said, 'I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but it was a really meaningful experience for me to do the exhibition, and I hope that you can do it and have the same positive experience from it that I did,'" Miner said.

"It was pretty special for me to have a skater I respect spare a thought for me in a moment when she should just be happy for herself. She was so good at nationals; I was so happy for her."

Miner elected to skate. He took the ice dry-eyed, wearing a simple gray T-shirt and black jeans, and wowed the audience with a routine set to Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run."

"The applause had a certain respect to it," Miner said. "It was honoring how I had competed, and my career."
