Congrats to Mai and Happy birthday!!

Additional JGP assignment
http://dogatch.jp/news/ex/34694
Poland: Sota Yamamoto
Croatia: Wakaba Higuchi, Kumiko Maeda/Junya Watanabe

Mai and Rin were 2nd and 4th respectively at Slovalia, so they will sure get second assignments.
(I guess their current 2nd assignments are tentative.)

According to this interview, Yuna Shiraiwa can land 10 kinds of 3-3s.
Her SP was choreographed by Cathy Reed.

Thanks for sharing the link...this is interesting: Shiraiwa's FS is to the music from the musical 'A little night music', choreographed by Tom Dickson. Shiraiwa says in the interview that she's playing a clown. Actually, the association I could come up with between the musical and the 'clown' image is from one of the songs 'Send in the clown'. I am curious how the program will turn out.

Congratulations to Mai for the silver medal :cheer: Right now, Mai is assigned to JGP Austria next with Wakaba. I hope she can get reassigned elsewhere although I don't know if JSF are ever flexible with things like that. And a 4th place finish for Rin wasn't bad although she must be kicking herself for the mistakes.

Koshiro made a great comeback! I'm sorry I thought he was way below Sena Miyake and that his jumps were tiny at DOI  (but it was true at the time :p)

Daichi didn't totally fall apart but will he get to keep his spot at JGP Austria with a 6th place finish? That's still higher than Koshiro's 7th place so I'll remain hopeful.

Koshiro Shimada FS

Daichi Miyata FS

Looking forward to seeing Sena, Kazuki, Kaori and YunaA next week.
Thanks for the links everyone :)

woooooooooow, i loveeed Koshiro! shame about SP but what a comeback, and he has great program, i enjoyed his program the most! and those jumps are big!
i also enjoyed Daichi's SP, he has nice style
and ladies, really good skate by Mai!! her jumps werent as big as Polina or Vivian but she had no prep time whatsoever and with great speed, her spins are really fast too! but her flip seems like a problem, hopefully she will fix it!
ahhh Rin, her jumps when landed are great, and feels effortless, she needs to stay calm and attack more, please no more popping!

I didn't follow novice skaters so I had no idea who Koshiro was until last year in November when he was invited to Stephane's show in Switzerland. Then they showed a news report about him and Sena Miyake and found out he was a Tatsuki Machida fan and they exchanged text messages which I thought was very cute.

Loved his Chaplin FS, he is very expressive and has a solid jump technique. He has lots of charisma. I think there's a bright future ahead of him.

^ I really like Mitsuki's style. I'm looking for his SP too!

A video from a local Aichi TV program focusing on Rika and Sota.
Rika couldn't practice jumps from April to June because she was having her lower back injury treated so her jumps were still not completely back at Summer Cup. She wants to improve her PCS scores this season and hopes Akiko's choreography will help with that.
Even though Sota admires Yuzuru, he has a more relaxed personality so Coach Nagakubo is telling him that that's his weak point and that Yuzuru used to practice jumps until he landed them no matter how tired he was. Sota wants to win the JGPF if he can go.

Rin shared some photos of TJ members in Slovakia.
I didn't recognize the lady in the middle at first but I think she's Ms. Kobayashi from JSF. She looks different without glasses.
Daichi is not an exceptionally tall guy but he has to slouch because everyone else is so short

Since Koshiro has acquired new fans, here is a video of him being interviewed, studying at school, and practicing at his home ice rink in Okayama last year.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aa6SmGAM5mM
His coach says that he's the fastest learning student she's ever had and she's had a lot of students.
Koshiro says he is friends with Machida and they exchange emails with each other. They used to practice at the same ice rink.
He's so well spoken and he's only 13yo

That's the same interview I saw. His skating style reminds me of Tatsuki's junior programs but he is much more extroverted and expressive than Tatsuki was. The program he skated at Stephane's Ice Legends show is proof enough that he's a fan/friend of Tatsuki's because he had an almost identical Happy Feet program way back when.

Kazuki Tomono is another fan/friend of Tatsuki's so I'm personally curious to see how he does too. They used to train at the Rinkai Sports Center together and when Tatsuki retired, Kazuki said he wanted to become the next star of Rinkai and make his senpai proud. Since Tatsuki expressed his wishes to become a coach and choreographer, who knows - maybe he will work with his young admirers just like Akiko is doing with Rika.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Kazuki. I've heard his name a lot but have never seen him skate a full program. Same as Yuna Shiraiwa, the girl with 10 variations of 3-3s!
It would be wonderful to see Machida choreographing for his young admirers and there would certainly be a lot of demand for it. Just look at Akiko and Cathy Reed! Kenji can relax a bit

thanks for the videos mikaboo! once again i watched the videos without understanding anything
i dont like Rika's skating much yet but i adore her as person, she always seem so happy and smiling (and dorky ) thats why its hard to see her disappointed and upset during practice video, sometimes we forget how much hardship they have to endure. i hope she will leave problems and injuries behind her and start new season fresh! :cheer:
and somehow seeing Sota makes me happy! its nice tht his coach knows him so well and motivate him by mentioning Yuzuru but i hope he wont force himself too much
as for Koshiro, i remember watching his performance at Ice Legends but didnt realise it was him until you mentioned it, he had some jump problems there but he is great at performing and interpreting! cant wait to see his progress over the years with the help of his idols (too many faves, my poor heart:hopelessness:), also his smile and joy reminds me of yuzuru haha

Let me know if you want a more detailed translation of any of the videos above. I never know what people might be interested in actually or if they are interested at all so I've been trying not to go overboard with translations lately (I don't know where to stop )

Yeah, Rika is a skater who is hard to dislike because of her personality and not necessarily for the skating itself. It's great to see her improve in such a short amount of time though. I admire her competition nerves. I want some of that please.

anyway i enjoyed Miyu's SP too! i agree she is a happy skater and makes you happy too!i still remember her reaction at K&C  she needs to fix her layback and biellman tough

here is video of Koshiro's LP from last year's novice nationals
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNjQ1NjMxNjcy.html?from=s1.8-1-1.2
i love how much fun he is having and his face after performance

Thank you for Koshiro's video link. I can't get it to play on my computer or my iPad right now but I'll try it another time.

Miyu's bielman! Yes, it's something even I noticed too.
I heard that she used to go to a demanding high school so she had to concentrate on her studies more than skating but now that she's in university (e-school at Waseda!) she'll have more time for skating
Her reaction at K&C after her SP at Nationals was cute too. Too bad she bombed the FS.

Takahito Mura, Riona Kato, Yuka Nagai will be competing at Ondrej Nepela Trophy (01.10.2015 - 03.10.2015)

Sorry off-topic again.

SP of Mitsuki SUMOTO (須本光希) has been uploaded.

He jumps quality jumps including Lutz. His coach seems to be Ohnishi Sensei, Tatsuki Machida's last coach.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8ZjaTd2iSk

I have not noticed him till I saw him in this Asian Open. I don't think he was known to Japanese fans widely so far, as he was not in the last years ranking of Japanese skaters, but in the lists of one year and two years before last, Novice A. Also, he has been assigned as JSF-Certified Skater - Class B.

http://www.geocities.jp/cxb00463/zennihon.html

http://skatingjapan.or.jp/national/national_list.php?sports_id=2

He may need more speed and 3A as soon as possible, if he is to follow the way of Japanese great skaters including Yuzuru.

Anyway, Yuzuru talked about his support for young skaters in future, I'm sure he would be happy about young talented skaters to come :agree:

I agree. Saw him live a couple of times and he really does exhibit a happy presence. I'll be cheering for him this year!
