My first reaction was, wow, there are 2,740 members of Golden Skate. If each of us sent just $10 to support the training of the up-and-coming skater of our choice, let's see, that would be...

OK, that would be about half enough money to pay the annual expenses of ONE novice skater.

This is just a terribly expensive sport, even for rich families. And now television revenue has taken a $17 million dollar plunge.

I wish I had something cheerful to say.
