I just got done reading her autobiography. She said that when she recorded "Who's Sorry Now?" (the song that launched her career) she didn't want to record it to begin with and only had about 4 minutes to do so, so she said for the first time in her career she just sang it straight and didn't bother to sound like anyone else but herself; up until that time she had been asked to imitate other female singers of the period. I have a hard time imagining, with that voice, her POSSIBLY being able to sound like anyone else......
