2014 Cup of China Ladies Free Skate 11/08

Tuk's consistency is finally being recognized by the judges. Her PCS scores are beginning to go up. The power of consistency.

The judging for all the events have been SO suspect and weird to me.
I feel like some of the judges have been doing some IJS 'cooking.'

I like Julia's programmes this year much more than those of last year and she must be under enormous pressure this season. But this score was a gift she just simply didn't deserve and it sends the wrong message. Honestly that presentation score  What a joke.

Oh she attempted one all right...it's just it looked kind of like my lutz...

Oh I guess she did, just saw protocol. I must have been already writing when she did it.

REALLY weird that she would try to attempt a Lutz at the very end of the program if they are worried about an edge call.

Ugh...she will probably never take an extra two months of from skating again. She better get it together and fast!! The judges remember things like this.

I hate to be doom and gloom, but I think this whole year is gonna be a little like this. I could be totally wrong. But I think next season is more likely to go well than this one. Even as a non-Julia fan this makes me sad.

Oh Julia  Everything went wrong for her, choreography of the program was made late and I think she didn't skate this program before.

At K&C after FP:

Etery: you're second...
Yulia: it's a nightmare.

Congratulations russian girls with gold and silver medals here, and congrats Kanako with bronze. :)

It's a nightmare that she received 61 for that performance.
But then again she beat Mao on PCS at Sochi with a sub pare skate while Mao had the skate of her life. We should not be surprissed.

Yulia needs those B competitions to get all the shakiness out of her bones. I couldn't believe it was her I was watching.

I am so happy for Liza to win. She truly deserved that. Julia's sp was very good, better than last year. Her Lp is not at all ready.

Oh I guess she did, just saw protocol. I must have been already writing when she did it.

REALLY weird that she would try to attempt a Lutz at the very end of the program if they are worried about an edge call.

She was supposed to attempt it earlier but did the bizarre "I marked it for some reason and now everyone's crying" mistake. So she tried to put it in there.

I'm so proud of Liza. She said at the presser that she was very nervous going into the SP, but she held it together and gave a great performance. And now in the LP she once again gave it all she had, sold the program like noone else did. SIX competitions already this year for her. 5 gold 1 silver. She is awesome. By far the best jumps in the ladies field and stylistically so unique.

Yay Liza! she's looking 100% back to where she was 3 years ago, and more. For me she's the best Russian lady out there right now - polished, stylish, and consistent. I love it that she has developed her very own style. So great to see her doing so well, last year I thought she was gone for good!

In other news, I really hate how Japanese TV coverage starts right when Kana is about to skate, but then doesn't do live coverage until the 2nd group of male skaters. Just for that I kind of wish Yuzu would not podium so that they'd regret not covering the Ladies' or the rest of the Men's Short/Free Programs. (but that is kind of impossible, seeing that a Julia meltdown still gave Julia the silver).

Polina

Liza, I super happy for her after last horrible season.

Yulia :slink:, this program is bad, and technically , the score definitly is unfair. But it is not the end of the world, surely she will come back stronger.

Liza deserves the gold.. and lets give her the silver and bronze already. Nobody really skated well to deserve the silver and bronze. what a splatfest
