2014 Cup of China Ladies Free Skate 11/08

It's a nightmare that she received 61 for that performance.
But then again she beat Mao on PCS at Sochi with a sub pare skate while Mao had the skate of her life. We should not be surprissed.

***Best skate of any lady's life since the IJS was introduced. Let's be real. :p

Many fans will leave the sport if people are marked unfairly. Julia deserved really low scores! ISU please clean your act please! Seriously, please remove vocal music. It makes the sport tacky.

Just like Elizaveta's and Sotnikova's careers were over last season ?
Well let's take a look at what Adelina did and where Liza stands. And I'm referring to 'top of the podium here'

I'm happy for Liza but of course worried about Yulia. I really really hope she will make a statement at the press conference, I would love to know what was up here

Adelina and Elizaveta have much better jump technique than Yulia does.I have long felt those little jumps might not hold out long. I feel the same about Radinova.

Liza has textbook technique. Adelina to quote Dick has always had jump in her jump. I never felt either Liza or Adelina were getting away with certain jumps because they were tiny.

BTW, I think Lipnitskaia can pull it together still and manage top 2 at Worlds this season, but I'm truly feeling this will be her last season at the top. It won't get any easier for her out there as she matures and she doesn't have the technique to maintain.

She seemed okay in the K&C I thought. I think they were both surprised. She was patting Julia's knee and looked sympathetic.

Either way Eteri clearly knows how to deal with Julia. This is literally her first disaster skate since going to her.

I remember them before Julia's solo SP in Sochi. I have never seen her so tense before. And Eteri seemed to speak to her very harshly, which did not help at all. I might be wrong, but Eteri seems to lose temper quickly when things aren't going well. We'll see.

Yay Liza! she's looking 100% back to where she was 3 years ago, and more. For me she's the best Russian lady out there right now - polished, stylish, and consistent. I love it that she has developed her very own style. So great to see her doing so well, last year I thought she was gone for good!
I think she is better than 3 years ago, I honestly do. She is now mentally very tough, very strong.

Julia...that was unusual :slink: a total meltdown, I don't agree with the score but lately the scoring has been weird so...sigh ahh men. What's happening

Polina was 20 points in the hole after the SP. She was not robbed.

Kanako is another story.

I think Polina WAS robbed. Julia is wonderful; and her LP when it's ready may be a masterpiece, and the judging is NOT her fault. But those PCS' are a joke. Very sad.

I think Kanako did enough for bronze. Her program was not a piece of choreographic brilliance and she only really began performing it halfway through, and she popped a few jumps, but she stayed upright and landed most of her jumps and was selling the program by the end, terrible vocals and all.

I am so happy for Liza to win. She truly deserved that. Julia's sp was very good, better than last year. Her Lp is not at all ready.

Agreed. Liza has had so many struggles the past couple years, it's really heartwarming to see her achieving such highs after experiencing so many lows. That's one of the beautiful things about sports and figure skating- being able to pick yourself back up after you fall.

Maybe she was just really nervous, but Julia's LP looked a little under-rehearsed. Is this a new strategy- planning two 3F and a 3Lz as her final jumping passes? She doesn't look at all comfortable with it yet.

Not all skaters want/need the caring and maternal coach like Jason/Kori. Some need strict leaders.

Personally, I preferred the harsh/mean professors in my bio/chem/physics classes in college because I learned the best from them.

If we would watch back to back Polina and then Julia, in what universe is Polina's program only 6 points better overall? And 7 points LOWER on PCS than Julia?
