Lol, whatever. She and her team made a error that to my eyes is very bad and I'm calling out on them. If you people can't get it it's not my fault

I agree, there hasn't been enough attention brought to this enormous scandal. It seems things have become very grave indeed...now that the error is to your eyes very bad. Thank you for informing us people! How else would we have ever known?!

Yes, she just performed in the gala to huge applause. I guess not everyone got the memo that they're supposed to ostracize her for life now.![]()
Thanks for that. Good to know, because I didn't. The rules are designed to follow. If she gets a pass on it with no monetary punishment, it will create the precedent that will make impossible for ISU to use their own rule anymore against other skaters.Grand Prix of Figure Skating® 2014/15
Lexus Cup of China 2014
Official Regulations
"Skaters/couples qualified for the exhibition must participate with an appropriate show number different from their competition programs. Failure to do so will result in a reduction of USD $3,000.00 from the awarded prize money.
Skaters/couples are expected to be ready for any ceremony and/or prize award and participate in press conferences and/or social events if asked by the ISU and/or the event’s Organizer. Failure to do so may result in a reduction of awarded prize money. The decision to reduce Prize Money will be made by the Members of the Grand Prix Coordination Group attending the event, subsequently to be ratified by the Council."

To the people clutching their pearls over Julia missing the ceremony, you don't know what the reason could be so save the witch burning fire for when it's not aimed at a 16 year old girl.
Hanyu had a legitimate reason for missing the medal ceremony.
Last time I checked, Yulia didn't nearly knock herself out on an opponent, so I'm not seeing any reason for her to skip the ceremony.
Well you are sitting at home with a computer, not with Julia at her hotel room, so it'd be difficult to see any reason that isn't as bloody as Hanyu's. It seems everyone is lining up to kick a teenage girl in the stomach when she's down. Keep in mind Julia has said some things that make me concerned for her self-image. And a skate that bad when so much is expected from her could send someone with a precarious mentality into a very bad place very quickly. Have we not learned from Julia Antipova to stop judging these girls so harshly???

Well said! She skated bad. It happens. If she's going to chuck a temper tantrum every time she has a bad skate then maybe she should quit.
It was the height of disrespect and rudeness to not show up. Plushenko showed up even when he genuinely believed he was robbed in Vancouver. Max showed up at Nationals, even when he'd just had his heart torn out of his chest (and if we want to talk about people with poor self-image, there's one right there). I have never seen anyone not turn up because they couldn't handle losing.
And yes, I will criticise, because if I had EVER even THOUGHT about doing something that unsporting at that age, my parents would have kicked my behind.
Well said!
I didn't hear about Julia missing the podium ceremony until this morning, but I am shocked at how heated the reaction has been on here overnight.
Pretty much since I joined this forum, I have been trying to get it though to certain members that we need to be careful about what we say about teenagers, particularly teenage girls, because they are so impressionable.
One member (now banned) was so critical of certain Russian teenagers and their body shape, despite the fact there was nothing wrong with them. Next thing you know, another Russian teenager (Antipova) is in hospital seriously ill with anorexia.
We need to think before we type!!!
Of course, Julia Lipnitskaia shouldn't have missed the podium ceremony. BUT SHE'S A CHILD! We could all see just how upset she was after her FS. Is it any wonder that it slipped her mind?
Why wasn't Eteri or somebody else able to remind Julia and get her back to the venue on time?
Somehow, I think they might have been too busy trying to console a very disappointed little girl to worry about formal protocol...

.....Wow. This astonishes me, why on earth do you think it's ok to talk about someone this way? Forget a young girl, talking about anyone this way is just wrong. People seem to think because they watch a certain skater perform a lot or read lots of interviews that they know the skater. You are talking about a 16 year old stranger on the internet, this is not a girl you know anything about in terms of personality, especially not a girl as introverted as she seems to be. Nothing gives you the right to judge her for what she does if you have no idea of what the actual reason is, which you don't, no one here does. It is NOT your place to deem her behavior acceptable or not. Just because other people can handle things better doesn't mean everyone should, people are different and react differently to different types of stress. Just because Julia is known for performing well under pressure, it doesn't mean she doesn't have a fragile mentality in regards to certain things. She could have been having a mental breakdown for all you know, and none of the aforementioned skaters have had one on the podium, or you'd know all about it I can guarantee that much. Maybe she is behaving like a poor sportsman brat, but you don't know that and neither do I. You're judging someone based off peering into a tiny window of their lives, and that's just ridiculous.
I really don't think Julia gives a Flying-Flutz if you or anyone forgives her or not.Don't you know that because she's a little 16 year old girl, we're supposed to forgive her anything and everything?
I really don't think Julia gives a Flying-Flutz if you or anyone forgives her or not.
If this is the best thing you can slate her for then it's pretty pathetic.
What worries me the most is that there are adults on here getting angry over the actions of a 16 year old girl, which I find very strange.
She has not committed any crime or personally insulted anyone.
If she has done something against the rules then I'm sure the ISU will take action. Other than that, leave her alone & stop making excuses to slate someone you don't like anyway.
Good grief, people are acting as if Julia shot the two other medalists, buried them in a shallow grave and then demanded their prize money too. She missed an award ceremony, it could be poor sportsmanship or it could be something else, none of us know. Deduct her prize money; absolutely, rip her to shreds;.....no. This is making a good case for those who view these forums as nothing but a bunch of armchair athletes, and if you think I'm being harsh then think about what you're saying about a young girl.

Why the over dramatic spew?
People have made some reasonable arguments here.

This thread was unnecessary but the defensiveness is just as excessive. Maybe tuck away the soapboxes, folks.
