Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

^Even though it was written a few years back, I only came across this by accident some months ago. I was searching for one of Mishin's books on jumping technique and I found this instead. It is a really insightful book, I hope more people can take the time to read it.

she has proven every doubter wrong.
Tuk is back, when she will try her 3A soon ?

You have no right to be in here. You are a hypocrite in every way.

By the way, congrats for making a post about Liza without mentioning her weight. That must be a first for you.

Alexei Mishin: I believed in Tuktamysheva, even when I was told to abandon her

Sorry, google translation so not the best: http://translate.googleusercontent....=87367&usg=ALkJrhjkhVLbUPxNQwgEtoCs-k_nX48crQ

Yesterday, November 8, in Shanghai (China), the third stage of ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. In the women's figure skating Russian has won Elizabeth Tuktamysheva Ahead of her compatriot, Olympic champion Julia Lipnitsky. Impressions of the performances of Elizabeth Tuktamysheva special correspondent of the Agency of sport information "All Sport" Catherine Borisenkova shared her coach Alexei Mishin.

- Elizabeth in China was the sixth start of the season after an unsuccessful polutorogodichnogo period after the strain of ligaments of the right foot, after a back injury - said Alexei Mishin. - And I am very glad that she recovers, gets its former shape, because I always believed in it, even in difficult times, when I talked all - throw it, it will not be restored. But I did not refuse Tuktamysheva because it is our first girl after Irina Slutskaya, who began to beat all the best skaters of the world, for breach of our other skaters.

- You are completely satisfied with the performance Tuktamysheva in China?
- She's performed perfectly! The only one triple jump instead made - double, but for obvious reasons. Ice rink in Shanghai was not enough, and fled Lisa a little more. And the rest of her, again, everything was fine. Our programs are built in such a way as not to surprise the judges plenty of stepping, rebuilt, and create an image. And Lisa embodies these images - and in the short program under the "Bolero" and in an arbitrary - "Oriental dance" where dancing with all the joys and sorrows that befall women in the East. We will try to continue to move forward without getting stuck, peak form now or not. Our goal - to all tournaments to be in good physical shape. Elizabeth this season very successful program, it goes on increasing, goes to the fact that the show is not the girl's skating, and adult, female and feminine. Our programs are delivered so that there are alternative programs other skater.

- What needs special attention in further training?
- We will continue to work on all elements of the program. We will be ready, as I have done all my previous champions - Alexei Urmanov, Alexei Yagudin, Evgeni Plushenko.

.

That's really sweet

Thank you, Alba. Heartwarming to hear about their mutual trust. While some were shouting at Liza to leave Mishin, and others were shouting at Mishin to leave Liza, they stuck together.

seeing Tuk smile and happy again rekindled when I first saw her. she has gone through alot I am happy for her :)
she is a master Technician, imo she and the equally amazing Pogorilaya are the frontrunners for the russian field

About her 3A-3T, it was mentioned in the late Igor Novodran's picture book on Mishin. It has many old photos from 2006 to 2010. Do check it out if you haven't already:

Thank you so much for sharing this! I can't believe there's actually a book about Mishin in English. So many interesting tidbits, and they explain quite a few things (now I know why Evgeni and Yuzuru were so in sync on their 3Ts at the ice show! :)). And Liza has grown so much! She's gone from a pretty girl to a beautiful lady. A heartwarming read (well, heartbreaking in retrospect, the part about Artur).

Regarding the triple axel, I just want to mention: The powerhouse triple axel jumpers of the past--Midori Ito and Tonya Harding--both were short but well-built. It's been mentioned on another thread that maybe today's skaters need to build more muscles and more powerful arms, instead of just going "lose weight, lose weight."

It's strange isn't it that there are so few books (almost none really) from the great russian coaches in english.
I would love to read something from, or about Moskvina, also.

I can find the book about Mishin on amazon. :disapp:

There is a book that looks a lot at Moskvina and her coaching, The Second Mark by Joy Goodwin, which is about the pairs involved in the 2002 Salt Lake City scandal. I recently read it - and it didn't actually focus that much on Salt Lake City, but it had a lot to say about Moskvina and how she coaches which was really fascinating.

On topic, I'm really loving Liza's programs and her costumes! I like the way she skates, it just draws you in. :)

Thank you very much for the tip. I'll buy that.
Happy to hear that the book is not focused on SLC. I can't stand that discussion anymore.

Weeelll, I'd probably borrow it from the library, because it does go into the scandal quite a bit, but since nothing ended up being properly investigated (boo ISU :disagree:) there wasn't really much to say. Plus you have to read about Sale and Pellitier, :disapp:  But reading about the Russians and Moskvina and Shen and Xue and their coach kind of makes up for it, soooo...

I'm really in love with Liza's skating this year! I've never been a fan, but her consistency and how this FS is well-choreographed is making me like her more and more at every competition  I just hope I'll NEVER see her skating a Latino program ever again :slink:

Thank you !!! I didn't know this book! I knew that Mishin is amazing, this is the reason why I always was so angry when some poster wrote about him: he is hard, strict, cruel, scary ......he is an adorable, smart person with unique humour...

And now I think...had only Artur didn't leave Mishin the great. He might have been just like Liza right now.

Tuk was one of the first russian wonderkids, she at 13 was already a phenom
would love for her to try 3A-3T maybe at Worlds, if she can get her prime form and peak in time
her 2A height is very good enough for a triple, she has charisma too.

many consider Tuk as a sentimental favorite, the frustrations were because of expectations
but that doesn't matter, all that matter is now her and Pogorilaya are in top form

I think Tuk, Radionova and the beautiful Pogorilaya should make the Worlds team

I agree with you on this point. But I think Russian Fed. would want Yulia to be there.
