2014 Rostelecom Cup Men's Short Program 11/14

Well, I totally forgot to get my fantasy picks in in time - I missed the start of the ladies and was too late.

Steaming because I had Voronov as my C pick and had just decided to go with Javi for the A pick to spare the pain of choosing between Max and Jason.

Javier FERNANDEZ (ESP)

Music: Black Betty by Ram Jam (+vocals)

Black t-shirt with sheer details, black pants, belt

4S - solid
3Lz+3T
FUSp
3A - very forward, hangs on
CSSp
StSq
CCoSp3p

Not perfect, but very good skate - audience seemed very into it!

SP: 49.77+44.15 = 93.92, 1st (out of 12)

Remember there is still the long program and there's only 5 points between 2nd and 6th right now... :)

Battle!!

Javi picks up where Joubert left off in the hip-ography department! I like this program for him, despite the Orser Cheesefactor (tm).

Javier's hip waggling

Seriously though, there are enough attractive men in this competition that we need a smiley face that is fanning itself....

Wow Jason in second warmup group for free skate. He really needs to get past this stage where he is relying on triple jumps and perfect skates.

Javi did a good job. Quite difficult and physically demanding choreo. He really improved as far as SS and Ch are concerned!

You know what, I actually enjoyed this men's SP, so many highlights. Fernandez, Voronov, Ge, Kozuka ending up 3rd, lots to enjoy.

Mostly I am just heaving sighs of relief that Fernandez didn't bomb himself out of contention for the GPF.

Meow! Javi - quad master, rock star and hottest guy on the ice these days  The crowd obviously loved him too!

And satine, yes there was a Oppa Misha style banner - loved that one too

Agreed - this is the best men's GP event by far, for my taste, anyway.

Heh love Javier, but felt he held back a little rather than all out gun blazing last outing. So hopefully he will save some strength for his FS unlike last time.

He looks a bit pale though! Yess 93+!!

It's not the end of the world. He only 5 points behind third. He can still move up with a good FS.

Javi... best short here, wow :yay:

LOL about the new (confusing :laugh2: ) emoticons.

Love the unpredictable men :cheer:
