Midori Ito?

Note: I'm not saying that Liza would be a second Midori - merely replying to the "no lady" part. :)

Yeah I thought of her as I was typing that  but was it consistently landed? I don't know the stats for her success rates.

If she can add the 3A to her repertoire by Worlds, she'll be unstoppable in a relatively clean skate.

That said, I hope she doesn't overwork herself or risk injury, especially after such a great season so far...

Liza says she'll start practicing the 3A right after the holidays http://www.sports.ru/others/figure-skating/1026122946.html

She's done it!!!! :cheer:

This was posted to her Facebook profile this evening:

So nervous and excited at the same time! Please take care of yourself, Liza. 3A isn't needed for Europeans.

I just read her post about a triple axel! :jaw: I can't wait a video! I didn't expect she would get her triple axel back so fast.

I don't understand the point of doing this at this point. She is already a favorite to win big this year with her current layout. If she isn't planning on using it then why practice it? Which leads me to believe she might attempt one this year. It kind of makes me want to :bang: but I guess if she thinks she can than why not  It seems a bit risky to say the least. Even practicing it now.

All the best Liza. I'd like to see her win her next two events.

You forgot about Elena Radio..She could beat Liza. And her coach is Mishin. Mishin thinks the difficult jumps is the most important part of FS and that is the development.

The competition between Liza and Elena is too close for comfort right now. Adding the 3A would be a way to add some additional points and a buffer. If past performances this season have been any indication, a clean skate from both Liza and Elena might not be enough for first place, or it would be extremely close. But, who knows, anything could happen. If I were Liza, I would also be concerned about all the upcoming younger girls and the types of jumps they are doing.

Might not be critical this year, but almost certainly will be next year...

Yay, Liza! :cheer:

As for how quickly it's happened - I remember the interviews where she said that she was doing the jump in harness, and that Mishin had said that she barely even needed the harness any more. I suppose he was right. :)

Yes, Mishin is the difference between Liza and all the other 3A ladies...I am sure they will make sure it's stable before trying to put it in a program. And I think they can get it to be stable. They have his "magic vest," after all. :)

:agree:

A 3A... Can I assume she has got her 3lz+3t already?
Weren't there reports of her doing lutz-toe in practice as far back as Nebelhorn? I think she can make the combo, but in terms of consistency/risk-reward, the toe-toe is working well for her so far.

Axel is different--I wouldn't be surprised if Liza wants to do 3A for its own sake. Lutz-toe is a point-getter, but if she can get 3A ratified, she joins a very select group of women. I personally wish she'd waited 'til next season. But the allure of the axel is special. :)

I find it unfair that 3A gets less recognition than 3luzt3T. Go for it Liza, push the boundary!! :cheer:
So that those folks will change the rules for 3A!!

The 3A is basically the Ladies form of a Men's quad, since it involves 3.5 rotations. We all know how much the quad is worth...

What we need to remember is that this is not a new jump for Liza - this is the culmination of all those years of hard work to get the jump BACK.

I would not be at all surprised if we see at Worlds - Liza doing 3Lz-3T and 3A and just blowing everyone away and we all just bow down in awe. Or it could be that the 3Lz-3T is the price we pay for seeing her do the 3A.

Her jumps are so magnificent - imagine, a 3A-3T could be in her future!
