Neither of them. The first time a read Tolstoy, and it was Karenina, was in Albanian. :biggrin:
Very good job, and it's thanks to my mom because she loved the russian literature.
In italian is wonderful as well. I have all his books, Solženicyn, Gorki, Gogol, Dostoyevsky, Pasternak of course, and Turgenev which I adore. They are very well known tbh.

It's the house where he lived from 1838-1842. :)
There is also via (street) named Leone Tolsoti in Milan, via Gorki in Bologna, via Pasternak in Modena. :yes:

You have no idea how much I respect you for that. I love Gogol too. I'd also recommend you trilogy of another Tolstoy (Alexi Tolstoy), it's named 'Road to Calvary' (Хождение по мукам). Maybe you've read it already, I don't know. It's very 'russian' and deep and nostalgic historical novels.

Some Russian people, probably more than half, didn't even read classic Russian writers at all. And they have no idea how much they're losing. Especially considering they have an amazing opportunity to read them all on their original langueage.:no:

Unfortunately I don't know him, no. I made a quick check and I can't find that in italian. It was translated and published once, but a long time ago, with the title "The road to torments".
So I have to see for an english version. I see that he has a done a book about Peter the Great also. Is it good? I'm interested in historic books as well.

I would like to add to the list one of the greatest poets, Mayakovsky. I know he was called a bolshevik but he was a genius. I love his agitposters a lot, a work of art.
This is Carmelo Bene, a great italian theater actor, director, dramaturg, writer, poet and philosopher, doing Mayakovsky, Blok, Esenin and Pasternak in 1978.

My friend from Moscow interpreted Mayakovsky's "My Soviet Passport" for me the night of the new year, last year that we were celebrating together in Rome. I think I was crying, and she was so good. :)

Back to Bobrova and Soloviev, I didn't love them last season but I really, really appreciated that they made an effort to do creative programs. I loved the idea of their Madness program, no matter how "weird" others found it. After all the good feedback their programs were getting this year, I can't wait to see them and hope they're well by Nationals!

I find Alexi Tolstoy is very easy to read. I like his style of writing. I've read his 'Peter I' a long time ago, it's very good. Very reliable historical novel. What I like the most in this book is that we see all the Peter's actions through people's eyes. In my opinion, it's a very interesting book. But some of my friend and my wife find it kinda boring. But I'm sure you'll like it if you like historical books and respect Peter I.

I like Bulgakov a lot too :) And I don't like Mayakovsky, I just don't get him. I don't like him since school.

Yay! We have more B/S fans every day :) I hope you'll not be dissapointed. Their new dances is hyped so much, I'm afraid people will say they expected more.
 
I figured that I should make an appearance again

I really really really want to see their dances! Or just them skating again. They work so well together and have amazing leg lines.

Also I want her to keep the red hair - I can't see her as a brunette or with black hair

I've been excited for their FD this season since I heard the theme back in the summer! :yes: I have high hopes for liking their programs this season more than last season's, but I agree with your sentiment. They are coming off of an injury and will have far less mileage and feedback on their programs, so I hope that when we get the chance to see them people keep that in mind.

Katya told the media that Dima's decision to undergo surgery was right and necessary, though it surely will take longer times for them to be able to compete again than just taking medicines and skipping just grand prix series and rushing it. They don't want to risk it like Maxim Shabalin once did at Olympics Vancouver. Their main goal now is get qualified to Olympics 2018, so in case they miss this season entirely, they'll prepare for a better come back at next season.

Maybe it's for the best. Who knows? I'd like them to keep Karenina for next season, but next season's SD theme is Ravensburger Waltz. I don't know how I feel about two waltzes in SD and FD. Maybe they should use it the season after next.

I don't know for sure, but soundtrack's theme and rythm is definetely a waltz. I have it as a ringtone on my phone btw :biggrin:
But it doesn't matter now, since in the interview you kindly posted for us here, Katia said herself that they will keep the FD for the next season. And they will make it more difficult. I think even IF they will go to Worlds (which I highly doubt at this point) they will still keep it, maybe they would change something, but it's not rational to set a new FD if they skated the old one just once. Especially if the old one is good.

I really like Katia's tone in the 'view. She seems confident that they will make it work in the end, and Dima is ready to fight. You know, I'm a bit pessimistic when it comes to what my favourite skaters say, but this time I'm actually happy. She said she had a dreams about how they skating their new dances and audience is happy with it :yes: She want to compete so much.
Also nice to hear they will be dancing AT LEAST four more years. And Katia is working really hard without Dimka, her amazing SS will be even more amazing I'm sure. I personally don't care about her posture, but since it annoys everyone so much I hope she will fix it too :)
