Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

I think they can be really versatile, but I'm not sure this kind of theme would suit them, somehow I think they are the more dramatic kind of team, with versatility though.I'd love a Carmina Burana from them for example.
Btw, he talked in both press conferences, and they didn't say he doesn't like to talk at Cup of Russia, but it was mentioned by a journalist in Lena's ProSport interview, which was taken a day after the event

I'm curious to see how they place at Europeans. If they skate like they've done so far, they ought to medal. Snatching the golden spot from the French seems improbable, but I wonder if they could perhaps challenge Cappellini/Lanotte for silver... Wishing them all the best.

I think it could be a great idea, but speaking of drama I was watching Gina Lollobrigida with Esmeraldaìs role and Elena came into my mind. They can make a great program on Notre Dame.

Translated Nikita Katsalapov Interview:

Sharing because he actually gives credit to Ruslena:)

Yeah, but his attitude is still wonky and he still manages to throw shade at Lena. I mean after objectively looking at their FD he feels he was shafted at nationals. :drama: This man and Trankov are so similar; drama queens. Rather than eliciting the effect it was supposed to, which I can't put my finger on, it just seems 9 months too late and scripted. Really he can look Lena in the eye? Looking at the pictures from COR and the finale video, he couldn't wait to get away from her. They were rude. Then looking at the finale at Nationals Ruslena made sure to get away from them when they could. Or maybe I'm just in horrid mood today. Maybe tomorrow it'll ring true.

It's exactly like this, you're not in a horrid mood.
There is shade, cause he just can't help it. They are national champions, so yes they were doing something right. And the whole interview seems a bit scripted, but I guess he needs to fix his profile, which is good for him.

I hope the drama for the former fans is over as well and stop bringing it up in every occasion. It's a lot of water under the bridge now

I actually don't think they're that similar. Trankov has always treated his previous partner Maria with respect, even when they had disagreements. He's full of drama, yes, but at least he makes up for it in competition- something Nikita usually never does.

True, we have heard at least a zillion times already "Yes, this was my choice" and "Yes, I made the right decision". Oh please can't he be just a bit more tactful? My goodness what an ordeal it must have been for Lena to work with this man! We do not need to hear for the umpteenth time how happy he is to be rid of Lena. We get it :drama:

Ironic that they chose to feature him and not any of the Russian National Ice Dance medalists who are working themselves to a frazzle preparing for EC. :rolleye:

The journalist supports his team, and has ties to them, no wonder

Respectfully I have to disagree with you here. Trankov was marginally better than Katsalapov, because he knew without a doubt he and Tatyana were going to be unstoppable. But many of his interviews and comments around the time were very ugly. Very. If you work with Trankov, ever, you need to have that man sign a confidentiality agreement. :bang:

I adore Max as a skater, and I like many of his comments in general.
Having said that he looks/sound quite a bully (Tania is a saint and the perfect partner for him.) and he hated Maria (maybe he was right about that, I don't know). Having said that, no they are not that similar because Maxim at least can prove his bravura on the ice. ;)

So if you can back up your claims on ice that gives you licence to be rude/disrespectful of others? Nah, not buying into that mentality. So if Skats comes back next season beating everyone in sight everything he has said and done is water under the bridge? Nope, classy is classy always, win or lose. One would never have thought that Skats and the Shibsibs train in the same rink.

Just because he hated her doesn't mean he was the one that's responsible for their break-up. The chemistry just wasn't there, unlike I/K who had tons of chemistry.

That's why I was talking about his previous partnership. It's very easy to be confident when things are going well, but when you're in a not so positive enviroment everyday it's hard to conceal your real emotions/thoughts.
Let's say Nikita "suffered" with Elena as much as Max did with Maria. Who was the one to go without a notice? Everyone knew M/T were going to split someday because they weren't progressing. Not the same can be said about I/K.

I feel like ppl jump into conclusions and hang on every single word a akater says as if it definens his/her personality as a whole.

Maybe KinoriH. But I have been intrigued by I/K from the beginning. And I can honestly tell you, very rarely does Katsalapov say anything that is remotely demure. The diatribe he unleashed on Zhulin was epic. Epic. He will never be able to live that down. He comes across 90% of the time as quite smug.

I didn't said that. Just saying that he didn't had respect for Maria, as you suggested. I think he was absolutely right to leave her.

Of course not. What I meant is that I could see Max leaving Maria. He was much better than her and as Kinori said there was not chemistry or a real partnership in that couple. Maxim was a very good skater and I think he was really suffering. He left and went with a better partner and let the skating do the talking. Furthermore, if Trankov has something to say he is not afraid of saying it directly from his own mouth. Not like Nikita letting her coach doing his dirty job. ;)

You know, I didn't follow that at all. Can you tell me what happened?

In essence his commentary included that all their issues could be linked to Zhulin not paying much attention to them. He was more concerned about shows and making a living. Zhulin was frequently absent from training, and when left with Volkov he was not particularly interested. They left because they needed to find something more suited to their needs. All this came out of his mouth when he was also badly injured in the back and could barely lift Lena. He was also extremely mistake prone that entire season. If you go back to their first season however you see that their material was nowhere as complicated as their peers at the time especially if you compared them to the Shibs. So in all honesty he should have cut Zhulin some slack.
