Jason Brown | Page 129 | Golden Skate

Jason Brown

Congratulations, Jason! He had an enormous amount of pressure coming in and he lived up to it. He, and all the other men in this competition, handled themselves with the utmost class. I can't wait to see his performances the rest of the season.

High quality video of Jason's skate.

Found and posted originally by el henry

Also includes Josh's reaction and later Jason's reaction to actually winning gold. So you can see score reaction and final reaction. Also, Max Aaron, is such a sweetheart!

Thanks for posting. Anyone else getting weird audio issues on this video? Sounds like the music/commentary is sped up or something?

I've been trying to get caught up with the Men's LP thread, but I swear that thing is - to use the Urdu expression - the devil's intestines! It's just getting longer & longer, and I will never be able to keep up with it! (Not so strange since it seems all over the place - apart from Jason, so far, there have been swipes at Evan - Plushy - Kovtun... I wonder who's next?;))

Well, so I'll say it here instead.

I haven't seen Jason's LP yet - how was it compared to Rostelecom, do you all think? I mean emotional-wise, as I think that so far, that is his best performance of it (that I've seen).

Meanwhile, I adore that program. But I like a bit of Drama.:) I have nothing against the colour of his trousers, or the rest of his costume, except I preferred the first non-glittery version of the sash/half-tunic (or what it is).

I hope he keeps it for next year. As for the quad - someone said they gave him the benefit of the doubt. I don't - because I have no doubt. None. Next year, it will be there, I'm utterly convinced, people, I know it in my bones I think that program will be even better with the Thrill of the Quad. And I will celebrate - and what a glorious moment that will be!:)

Meanwhile, I hope Jason savours the moment ("The moments are all we have.") - which I know he is, thankfully :) - and keeps clear of all... nastiness.

I agree with Katmari that the Rostelecom performance was more raw, more "urgent". It was the best, until nationals. But also, I find any and all mistakes extremely distracting and there were none to speak of here so this will be the perofrmance that I'll be rewatching.

I felt that for the first 2/3 of the program Jason came off as a bit tight, nervous maybe (understandably so!). A bit tentative even. But by the flip combo he just went all in, and the choreo sequnce (which I can't praise enough) is just something magical. I rewatched just that part 20 times last night.

I think that the scores were correct; it was nearly as good as Riverdance and even had the exact same mistake.

I think that the performance itself probably would have received more 10s if Adam had not just blown the roof with his skate. He was just so magical that coming close to that would have been almost impossible. Funny how last year Jason won the free by a lot, and even though he didn't win the title then, he was all everybody could talk about. This time around - even though Jason was fabulous - it's looking like Adam's the one getting the attention! Which is fine by me, he was just breathtaking.

Congrats to Jason! He skated 2 great programs and was rewarded with
the National Title, well done!

Congratulations to Jason, for winning his first US title! :hb:

I'm late here, because I went neck-deep into the Men's LP thread, and probably contributed to a few of those "swipes" myself. :slink:

Yes you did, young lady! (looks accusing and stern) (Poor Evan... ) But it wasn't as if you dragged the skater into the conversation yourself, and you were making valid points in response to someone else - so I forgive you! (she said, graciously)

I did persevere with the thread, though - and who could guess where it would lead? Certainly not me! Plushies, and Winnies, and Mickeys - oh my! I don't even dare to guess where it might have gone to since.;)

I have heard of people doing stuff with the pitch of audio to help avoid getting auto flagged and taken down. I actually don't mind it, kinda funny hearing Johnny sound like Tara and Tara sound like Tara on Helium.

I have a prosaic question: a friend of mine mentioned all the vacant seats-- was attendance down from, say, last year?

Having asked that, I wish to again give my heartfelt and much-deserved congratulations to Jason-- it was a simply superb performance!!

:cheer: :points: :yay:

I don't know about last year. Phil Hersh said attendance at men's was only 5,000. Idk if that's accurate.

What a shame for such a great comp;:points:

It is unfortunate, but not surprising. Greensboro is just not a destination that many people would go to. Boston, on the other hand, is a major city with lots to do in addition to skating. For someone like myself who has a husband who is being dragged along, this is somewhat important.

Someone noted that attendance was low when it was in Greensboro last time as well.

Prior to that it was in Omaha (which would have attracted good crowds from Detroit, Minneapolis, etc) and San Jose (Bay Area; enough say)

That said Spokane, which is a larger mid-sized Washington state city, had AWESOME attendance in the years they hosted (2007 and 2010). But Spokane is bigger than Greensboro, and there's also a lot going on there.

Thanks, el henry and Mrs P,

I appreciate your comments-- I'll let my friend know. I'm sure it will be a relief to her, as it was to me.

BTW, Mrs P-- congratulations on your good news!! :)

And cheers to all!!!
