Mao Asada

Yuna's highest was 71.76 before she stopped competing, but then she got 73.61 in Worlds 2013. So I think Mao's PCS will be around her best before she stopped which was 72 at Worlds 2014. Maybe even higher. But Liza and Elena are being scored too high on PCS. What I hate the most is that Elena is receiving higher PCS than the PCS Akiko received before she retired. Liza should have 66 in PCS while Elena should have 62. So Mao will probably still beat them.
At Euro 2015, Liza got 68 PCS and Elena got 67 PCS already. The gap is small.

I will beg on anyone's behalf

I second you! A part of me wants her to come back so I can finally see quality skating/programs in competition again. But then the competitive part of me gets scared and upset thinking she might get low balled by judges.

Seeing Liza's 3A makes me miss Mao's. Part of me wants, for Christmas, Mao to announce her comeback in 2016. She then does a couple of B level competitions to test new programs, win 2017W, sweep the 2017 GP series and then retires after 2018 OGM. Anyone else with me?

I like Liza a lot but to be honest Mao's 3A when lands still look more beautiful. And to be honest her level of skating is still much much above the current Russian ladies but I'm afraid she might not get much advantage in PCS over them.

Which is why I hope she retires than get disrespected and not be appreciated by the judges again.

I like a Liza, but when I saw that her LP score at Europeans was almost the same as Mao's Sochi LP with only 1 point less in PCS and no triple axel and considerably higher than Mao's Worlds LP and all her other great performances, it made me think of the the issue of Mao's frequent underscoring, which so many including me have commented on so often. The fact that Elena also has a higher LP score than Mao's Worlds LP made me feel this way even more so. However, I think Mao's Sochi LP speaks for itself as do so many other of her legendary performances. I don't believe that the scoring system is impartial or that it properly values Mao's incredibly beautiful, athletic and elegant skating qualities, like her triple axel or her 3F/ 3Lo combo which were downgraded far too often, nor are her step sequences, spirals, spins, or her balletic extensions valued enough in the scoring system.

I agree with this whole post. :agree:

Currently watching Mao's 2012 COC LP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zfJHd7woJU

That 3F+2L+2L('tano) is so in sync with the music! Never seen a jump combo timed so perfectly. And her step sequence!

I normally dread them for most skaters because they go on forever and it's at the end of the program when the skaters are running on empty so there is no energy, but for Mao, it's the part I most look forward to in her programs.

This so much and it frustrates me, Mao may not have had the best technique but she always sought to improve herself no matter what this past decade (time passes fast!) and I hate how the judges never properly rewarded her for it. She improved her jumps, her spins and her ss, this may be a bit overdramatic but when I look at Mao's scores I feel kind of robbed. The rotation to me at Sochi looking fine for her 3-3, her step sequence got less GOE than Adelina's and her PCS didn't even pass 70, I felt so robbed. And now when skaters these days don't have her posture, her extension, nor her refinement are getting such high scores I feel frustrated.

I love her Swan Lake. So refreshing despite the overused music. It's upbeat and energetic from start to finish.

The Swan Lake is one of my favorite program from her. One of my friend saw her on the tram in Budapest. But I couldn't believe my friend. I thought she was wrong. But after the secret wasn't secret anymore...She prepared for the program in Budapest Opera House.

I really love the feeling that Mao puts into Swan Lake and her incredibly wonderful step sequence. This program laid the groundwork for her Sochi LP because it was the first time she had ever tried to do an 8 triple LP with a triple axel. The 2A / 3T was great and the 3F / 2 Lo / 2 Lo were beautifully in sync with the music.

CONK at Mao Asada forum posted this link in which Mao demonstrates various types of spins and spirals. Really great to see her wonderful fan spiral after so long.

I'm looking forward to Mao's DJ debuting in a couple of hours![/quote]

Wow! Her spirals are still beautiful and I was surprised at how she did the donut spin easily when she didn't use it in competition for the past few seasons.

What I liked most though was that she seemed so happy to be there and smiled throughout pretty much the whole video.:)

Nice video! I'm always so impressed when you actually her the sound of her skates, like the sound when you walk on fresh snow, a beautiful sound. :)
