Finally, the cover for the magazine (World Figure Skating) photoshoot Liza did awhile back:

Fabulous.

All those pics from that photo shoot, and that's the one they choose for the cover?

They really went overboard on the 'mature look' here. No issues with the whole 'Queen' ensemble... though I would have preferred something more like a youthful & stylish 'Marie Antoinette'.

Oh, yes! That would have been a great look for Liza!

It's not "Queen" but "Snow Queen", the female counterpart of the "Snow King". ;)

I like the overall layout, concept, and build-up of Peer Gynt. Specific parts of the choreography do need work (for instance, I think some parts call for more extension than her older programs, and she hasn't nailed it quite yet). Overall, I do think it'll be a good fit by the time the season starts.

I appreciate versatility, so I'm glad she's trying something a little different.

Do you think Liza going to Participate at JO? for sure they want her, world champion and with 3a, but I dont know, maybe Liza's team are unsecure yet because the program is not ready.

I like Grieg. But I dont know how to feel about this music cut:shrug: By the way, do you remember Liza's program to Solveig song?:) One of her earliest programs

Ohhhh, but could you imagine if they DID invite Liza, so we would be able to see the clash of axels this early:popcorn: One can dream

If what Petrov said is true - that both of them intend to compete at Finlandia - then I think it's unlikely.
Japan Open and Finlandia are only a week apart...

OK, just to make clear, I'm not saying that Liza doesn't look stunning in these photos, because she does.

But, I'm not keen on this whole dressing up as a Queen for a photoshoot for a magazine thing.

I didn't want to use the "T-word", because the dresses Liza is wearing are absolutely beautiful. But, it does seem rather tacky for a magazine to be taking one of the top athletes in a sport, and dressing her up to take photos of her.

What's wrong with using photos of her doing what she is known for - skating? Let's face it, if it wasn't for skating, it is highly unlikely that they would be doing a piece on her in the first place!

Plus, you can get some pretty stunning photos of people on or around the ice. Especially so if they are taken in the dark under the spotlights.

And if they wanted her to dress up, well there are some very beautiful skating dresses about! (Off the top of my head, I can think of a stunning red dress that would fit her perfectly... ;) )

But, that is just my opinion. And, yes, I probably am being a bit too overprotective of her. But, I really don't want Liza to become one of these athletes that becomes a media personality, and whose results suffer because she is concentrating more on being a celebrity than on training.

Anna Kournikova, anybody?

I know this is the worse case scenario. But, it could happen.

Let's just hope Liza stays as focussed on her skating as she has been so far. She seems sensible enough not to allow this to happen. ;)

Just my two cents, but I must say that I don't agree at all.
Nothing inherently tacky with photo shoots of this kind, IMHO -- whether with athletes, actors/actresses, anyone else -- as long as the specific clothing/make-up/hair/setting/props/etc. are not tacky.

You're over thinking things. Nothing wrong with doing a shoot like that. It took her just about a few hours during a vacation period that she otherwise would not have been skating anyway.

If it was a male skater dressed in a tux doing a photoshoot, would you also say it was tacky idea? Just something to think about.
