Even waltz has rhythm.
Even Stravinsky has rhythm.
OR even hip hop.

So definitely not just Latin or tango.
Waltz for a singles skater? Is it possible? Has anyone done it before?? I'm new to the sport, so pardon me for being so shocked....

It is highly unlikely that if Jeff Buttle said 'rhythmic' he meant any kind of Waltz. Waltz has a rhythm, but is not usually classed under rhythmic music. (I've got a soft spot for any music that has that 1-2-3 beat.)
Han Yan has done a waltz in his LP in 2014 I believe.

Well rhythmic would imply a strong beat so anything really classical or soft is out. I don't think Yuzu would choose anything rock or PW like since Orser said to try different styles. And I doubt anything to ethnic like like tango would be chosen because of his LP. So that leaves Jazz...or Hip Hop, but even those can be broken up into many different types of music! Jeff has given us 2 masterpieces already, so I have no doubt or concern in this one!

so he did it at the same time he choreographed for nobu  they know how to keep secret haha,
and so that means showing his LP instead of SP was intentional as well since both programs were ready(ish) before DOI  which is smart choice i think

Well that's s understandable too, since his fp might be more interesting and original?

I guess it's due to 3 quads which he needs to get used to. Obviously he needs to spend a lot time in gym this summer if he wants to make it work ;)

The newest translation said that it is announced that yuzu will skate to a piece that makes use of his rhythmic sense?? So it might not necessarily be upbeat?? Dunno

Well, of course! :hb:
Glad to know that Jeff started working on it before half of the skaters in the field decided to work with him. That was one of my initial concerns, that given the lack of time Jeff would have, the program would have been a bit rushed, glad to know it was not like that and it has prepared ahead of time.

Yuzuru's sense of rhythm, now I'm as lost as you are ahkeekee

And yeah, I guess he decided to go for SEIMEI in the ice shows to have a solid 3rd quad by the time the competitions came around. And, I think it was gyzf who said it could be that, because it's a Japanese-themed program, he may have wanted to show it to the Japanese audiences first.

Glad to know Jeffery will be doing Yuzuru´s sp again.

Do we know if he is still in Japan or he is on his way ot Canada now?

So basically, all bets are off  Though I've always considered Yuzuru to be quite good rhythmically with hip hop...which I would LOVE to see him skate to. At the very least, he's working with Buttle!! That's reason enough for me to be excited.

I think he wanted to do SEIMEI rather than the SP for the ice shows in Japan because it's Japanese themed and he wants the Japanese audience to see it. He may want to practice the 3 quad program but that was also his plan for last season and we didn't see POTO during the shows last season.

If I was to guess what exhibition he'll skate this season my guess would be Requiem since it doesn't have any lyrics, or maybe we'll see some Chopin?

I arrived late to the party but I'm also very happy about Buttle! Can't wait to know about the music.

So did I and so am I! "Rhytmic" sounds like something new, and Jeff Buttle is great news so I'm full of anticipation!

Maybe Believe? Che'Nelle has an English version of the song

Its hard to say, Coz hip hop and jazz both also require strong sense of rhythm, ESP jazz, so might not be off yet!😜

 Seriously, that was a concern of mine too, so I was thinking that if pressed for time, for Yuzuru to retain "Ballade" would not necessarily be a bad thing (an understatement I know ). Anyway, thank you to Jeffrey for being on the ball.

I am also curious if Yuzuru will again go for the quad in the second half of his SP. If he is and considering the three-quad layout of his FP, he will really have to be in the best shape of his life for the coming season. I think he can do it and that we will see in this quad the peak of his technical and artistic development.

Thanks everyone for all the updates and links. It's an official holiday in my country, sending warm greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters of a Happy and Blessed Eid! :)
