Better version of Requiem ex: http://dai.ly/x2yfznb
It's Stockholm syndrome or something, I find it beautiful now. Omg!!

I particulary love the hand movements in hydroblading here. So delicate and with piano notes, beautiful !

Seems to me this year will be the "hydrobade year" for Yuzuru. Two weeks ago (3 weeks ?) there was a discussion about which element could be named after his name, and I think hydroblade (maybe one particular type, if he does ? ) could be perfect. Of course he isn't the only one to do it, but still^^
Like this one, with the two arms up, maybe ? He looks like a bird and since in Hanyu there is the kanji for wing...the Hanyu hydroblade ?

Here is my review of the ice show last weekend in Nagaoka-shi, Niigata. It was a very small venue and a wonderful chance to see great skaters up close. I talk a lot about SEIMEI and REQUIEM, but also many other Japanese skaters too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-S29R4LXjI

We were there, too!....My daughter and I stayed at Nagaoka after the show for one night, and then took a two-day trip to Sendai and Mazujima.
Public transportation is well organized, so it’s convenient for visitors. Sendai is the city appeals to your appetite, full of products from the sea and mountains. A beaf tongue is special food for Sendai, so they are thinking outside the box to offer it as delicious as possible. Matsushima (We usually pronounce Matsushima as Mazujima. Interesting to see the difference!) has truly beautiful scenery. It was nice the pretty skater from Taipei could go to Ice Rink Sendai!

By the way, the following is the song "Aoba-jo-koiuta" (Aoba capital love song?), which sings for Sendai and is most popular there. I find it lyrical and beautiful. This video includes a lot of photos describing Sendai. To see it, you can understand well how his hometown is lovely. Please take is as a memory of your trip!

Today's TV program of "Prince Ice World", Yuzuru's 2014 Hachinohe Show, Hana Ni Nare was introduced. Thank you for the uploader.

About hana-ni-nare, I also love SOI 2014 version. He didn’t put on neckless, it seems suitable for this Kimono-like costume.

I remember to read a report about the show. Hachinohe is a local city of northern Japan, and people were enthusiastic about having Olympic Champion there. Hana-ni-nare is quiet and emotional type piece unlike rock type one, but the crowd screamed a lot at the performance.

Short clip from news at Hachinohe Ice show. He was cute dancing!

TV PROGRAMS
Anyone knows from which program these photos were taken #1 , #2?

Variety show talks about his huge fan base, school/studying, his childhood dream being so spot on, and his obsession with earphones!
About the earth drawing, it seems he drew the earth and made the continents the alphabet.
What was his childhood dream? Could you translate please?
His childhood dream was to win an Olympic gold medal. When the interviewer asked him which Olympics he said the Olympics after Vancouver
After this comment, I remember he was asked his age at the Olympics after Vancouver, and he replied, "I will be 19 at that time. 19..... Nearly 20 years old (sigh)."
Here are the interview clips
- 11year old Yuzuru talking about his Olympic dream.......the translation gif
- And the reply on his age at his dream Olympic after first talking about producing both men & ladies Oly champion from Miyagi. (screen capture)

I remember Kanjani8 had a variety special where they were talking about why Yuzu's 3A scores so high and his secret to his world records. Other than the jump being flawless, the band members couldn't figure out what about the jump was so different and hard until Nobu explained that difficult entry. He really does make it look so easy and effortless!

Yuzu’s counter 3A appeared in Etude SP for the very first time during the 2011-2012 season, when he was a 16 yo kid. It's amazing not only the exceptionally difficult 3A entry, but the whole choreo , above all the stunning transition after the 3A landing , a sort of rotational movement the leads him directly into the spin … so natural, so difficult...I love Etude SP so much..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjmKI_2fFpA
The discussion of Yuzuru's 3A made me kind of curious, so I looked back at the protocols to see the GOE's on all his axels in competition:

2009 Japanese Nats SP -2.50 on 3A
2010 NHK FS -0.71 on 3A
2010 Japanese Nats FS -3.00 on 3A
2011 CoC FS -3.00 on 3A+2T
2013 4CC FS -0.14 on 3A+2T
2013 Finlandia SP -0.60 on 1A
2013 Finlandia FS -1.00 on 3A

Excluding this past season's CoC (because that was just a complete disaster), Yuzuru has gotten negative GOE on only 7 out of the nearly 100 solo or in-combination axels that he's executed in his senior career so far. Not only that, but 2 of those 7 were at a senior B competition (Finlandia), and another 2 were at nationals (aka not an international competition). Also, only 3 were falls; the other 4 were either underrotated or had minor flaws (lack of flow out of the jump, poor air position, etc.), and he only popped an axel once. Of the 90 or so well-executed axels, Yuzuru received +2 or higher GOE for roughly a third of them (I'm just estimating here), and +1 or higher for about 80-90% of them. And from a broader perspective, he hasn't received negative GOE for a 3A or 3A combination since the beginning of the 2013-2014 season, which is a good sign. All in all, it's an amazing record. There's consistency, and then there's Yuzuru-and-his-3A consistency

The smiley t-shirts are for sale!

http://www.ntv.co.jp/24h/shop/

Can anyone please help and check if they ship them abroad? And if they do could you please include the link to the purchasing page? Thank you!

Looking at the check out page, they don't include a "country" form, only "Postal","prefecture", and "city". So sadly, I don't think they ship internationally however, if you wait a little bit, you can defiantly find a resold shirt in good condition online!

It also seems you need to get and check your "application" before buying. Not sure what that means, or how a TV charity works but that complicates things doesnt it?

One Japanese fan found the poster in Helsinki. It seems Yuzu is probably going to attend the Finlandia Trophy this year.

I was learning confectionery making for a while, so knew that the original meaning of shortcake was a bit different from what Japanese think. This may be the original one.

Japanese, especially children love shortcakes. This may be the reason why Oda-san said to Yuzuru "That's cute."

When I looked up #tag 俺たちの練習着 Our (loving) workout clothes,

A fan said "ワイの羽生結弦練習着フォルダが火を吹くぜ…" My folder of Hanyu Yuzuru workout clothes will fire...

It's definietly interesting he has everything planned like that! But firstly, he has to find a girlfriend though. I remember there used to be some info about his possible future girlfriend on Wikipedia, basically what kind of girl he would like to date. They deleted it though.

Sometimes I think about skater's private life and it must be very hard to be in a relationship while being a figure skater. The immense training is long and skaters don't have much time for other things. Nevertheless, I hope Yuzu's dreams and plans will come true. :agree:

Remember Yuzu said he plans to get married at around 25-26? Just a check on some of the Japanese male skaters marriage time:
Takeshi Honda: 26
Nobunari Oda: 23
Takahito Mura: 22
And...Takahiko Kozuka (26 yr old) announced his engagement with his girlfriend today. :cheer:

I saw this on Facebook and can say Taka was absolutely glowing in the press conference! So happy for him and his bride-to-be! As for Yuzu, I have a feeling he knows exactly what he's looking for in a girlfriend, but of course is not going to say. I wonder if he will make it to 26 before marrying? (Since there are so many young ladies lining up...)

Yuzuru's Chopin is 1st.

Of course I guess it's just fan vote, but it's lovely.

Maybe because it's a Russian site, but personally I would have rated Kovtun's LP behind both of Javi's and Denis's programs.

Not sure how accurate this is, but apparently BS fuji (TV network) is advertising that they will be broadcasting Hanyu-san's practice footage from Toronto August 9th. from Twitter.

There is usually a TV program about Yuzu in Canada around that time. So it is likely to happen again this year.
No Media is allowed inside the Cricket Club except on certain days.

I bet lots of camera crews are just waiting to get that footage.

so that means he's probably already in Toronto :yay:

LOL, I hope it's fiancée, not fiancé :-D Sorry, couldn't help myself...

Very pleased for them, he looked SO happy in the press conference!
Lol yes, I meant fiancée. For some reason I forgot to add "e" for woman.

Regarding Yuzuru, one thing at a time with him. :) There're actually quite a lot of skaters who have girlfriend/boyfriend, but it depends on whether they're open to relationships with their current careers. It's not the case for Yuzu (so far and for now, at least).
But when he answered the question, it seems obvious to me that he has no clear idea on when he wants to get married. He just knows that he wants to be, someday. He still has time, tho. Lot of skaters didn't marry until their 30s. And Daisuke is not married either, whether he has a girlfriend/boyfriend.

I had the same impression, it was like he was trying to recall the age most suitable for marriage  or trying to decide on time he does want to get married at just at the moment. I hope he finds his true love by the time he's chosen though.
Concerning Daisuke and girlfriend/boyfriend thing, if it happens to be the later it's impossible to get married in Japan then, is it?

I'm glad finally we can see sp on August 9!:cheer:

nice photo set..from last year's toront? Look at brian and yuzu!:) and coool and sweet yuzu!

He is like calculating the days starting from 23 which is when he would retire and then add another 2-3 years. Seems marriage is his next life goal right after 2018 Olympics. Hooray! :cheer:

He has plenty of goals set for the time after Olympics, maybe even as important as marriage. People shouldn't hype themselves up with expectations for his private life and then feel disappointed.:) He'll get married whenever he wants and it's not like he promises something. Love can be a goal but it never comes as ordered.;)

I love you. But I have married Karpenko on Fsuniverse already. Can we have an affair?
Just kidding.

I absolutely agree with you. My relatives often ask me when will I get married and I always tell them: "Wait me for several years." It's just an unspecific goal I set but it doesn't matter if it doesn't come by that time. I think it's the same for everyone when they have something important to do right before their eyes. People shouldn't expect too much from athlete's private life (and even idols, actresses, actors) because it's their lives we can't live for them and despite all the ships going out there they might not end up with the one some people expect. And even that happens, it's not our lives. It's not his other goals in life we should pay too much attention to, who knows if he can archive that or not, as too much expectation more disappointment we might end up with. Private matters are always unpredictable and out of control than we have thought, that's life.

We follow him because he's a great athlete and a great kid (to me he is just a kid) in the first place, so for now his career is his top priority, it's his health and his state of mind the most important to him, and to us to a lesser degree. For now I only hope that he will be healthy in both his body and his mind even long long after 2018.

Yes, it's probably just a general thought. The kid still has all the time of the world, and he knows that.^^
Indeed same-sex marriage is not yet legal in Japan, but I heard the government is working on a form of marriage contract. So it's not a traditional marriage, but an equivalent to it for M/M and F/F couples. We had this in France (it still exist tho) before marriage was voted later on.
But as far as we know, Dai-chan is single (or he's not but no one knows for now) and having a great time with friends in the US, so who knows what the future will hold? ;)
