I used to think that violin sound is the best fitting Yuzuru's skating (the same said by Yuzuru and Shizuka in their talks before), but I understand now piano music is as good as violin.

Same here. I love "The Sheltering Sky", but it might not suit figure skating, especially as a competition number, to my regret hwell:

Also think on some songs for Yuzuru that would be interesting but not good for competition.

Thank you once again for another of your wonderful posts! It's really amazing how small is the group of skaters who managed to defend their title, hopefully Yuzu will join them! I was going through the list of Olympic Champions the other day and Yuzu is only the 5th skater in men's singles history to have won the Olympic Gold on his first appearance (only the second in modern history after Ilia Kulik)
I certainly agree that Yuzuru has everything to repeat as champion (though, above all, I want him to see give a performance there he can be proud of). And, by what we know of his stubborn personality, he's not going to take the easy path to get there, he wants to keep challenging himself (one of the reasons I admire him). I also wouldn't like this changes to promote wrong technique -I personally would have found it better if falls had been harsher penalized and that's it, no changes in UR, but oh well- and I would say that it probably won't since UR jumps normally get even more hammered down with -GOEs. The guys who are at the top right now are people who, aside from being the most complete skaters, also take high risks, and I like seeing that, but as you said, this season will give us an idea of how much these changes impact the scores. :agree:

I love reading your blog entries, they're always fun.

One thing in considering repeat medalists that may not have been considered is how many Olympic medalists retired before the following Olympics? How many actually attempted to repeat as champion? I'm sure part of the reason we have so few repeat Olympic champions is because many of them choose to retire soon afterward. In fact, wasn't Yuzu the first skater to compete his grand prix competitions and compete in the final after winning his Olympic Gold (if we discount the team event medalists)?

Speaking of the kiss&cry moments, it’s really difficult to choose but I would go for 2012 world FS with Nanami as many of us would choose but I also really like the moment 2014 Olympic SP with Mrs Kobayashi. The epic reactions from both of them. :thumbsup:

I would choose a rock star or a female j-pop idol Yuzuki for sure.
and it would be interesting if there were a TJ boys band and Yuzuru as the vocal.

Pirate... Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean (yes eye shadows and mascara ahoy!) or Luffy from One piece. His frame size and proportion even resemble some of the characters there.

From this list:
(1) 1908-1952: 8 Oly games, 4 men's OGMs, all 4 attempted to repeat as champion and 3 succeeded in achieving OGM again.
The 4 are Ulrich Salchow, Gillis Grafström, Karl Schäfer and Dick Button.
(2) 1956-2014: 16 Oly games, 16 men's OGMs, only 3 attempted to repeat as champion and none succeeded in achieving OGM again.
The 3 are Brian Boitano, Viktor Petrenko and Plushenko.

Note that none of the men's singles OGMs since 42years ago skated in the following season, Yuzu is the first as I posted in the "Historical 'firsts' for 2014-15" thread as below. So Yuzu change this trend and hopefully he change the trend of repeating champion as well and will achieve 2018 OGM...gambatte Yuzu

- Dick Button competed in 1949 after OGM in 1948 (65 years ago)
- Ondrej Nepela competed in 1972-1973 season after OGM in 1972 (42 years ago)
- Yagudin withdraw after his first competition SP in season 2002-2003 after OGM in 2002

From this list, since 42 years ago and since the start of COP no men single's OGM competed in the following season. One withdraw while the rest took the season/s off or retire.

So Yuzu is the first men's singles OGM in COP era to compete in the following season.

The poll results depend on the demographics and nationalities of the fans that voted. If this poll is done in asia, you may be surprised to find that rj2 is indeed ranked very high and poto1.0 may be ranked the highest (higher than poto2.0) due to what happened at CoC.

always like to read all the texts of this blog are always very instructive and induce us to think ..
the Olympiad is so far and so close .. I support and pray that Yuzuru gets a new feat in his career after the record and three cameponato in a single season ..

as the text says I qeu Yuzuru also want this gold but this time he will not say it in loud and clear.
He is more mature and knows what is at stake.
I just hope he ultimately be happy and stay healthy.

She should have never thought that tons of the collaboration paintings thereof would be made…(It’s another topic about Kobayashi. A blogger met her at the overseas competition; she thanked Kobayashi for her support. Then, she replied, “I’m a mother (“okan”) of skaters.” To hear about her saying “okan”, I could imagine good relationships between them.)

Count me in for wanting to see another red costume! :agree: I think a deep red would suit him really well, like the turtleneck he got from Ghana chocolate. But my mom disagrees and thinks Asians look like tomatoes and eggs (it's a Chinese dish) when they wear red
