Skaters on Team Japan

thanks mikaboo!! 3A looks really good, omg Japan ladies becoming more and more competetive, its not good for my poor heart

Is that Yuzu, the one that sitting on the ice? Where was this video taken?

I think Sota is a good guess by cohaix. Rin and Sota's coach, Nagakubo, has something like 50 students iirc so it could be any of them.
(ETA: I looked at the comments and Sota wrote that it's him )

She was the last person I would have guessed to be trying it. I thought Miyabi or Riona maybe, but not Rin. I hope she continues to work on it (without overdoing it of course). I actually thought it was a double first and wondered why all the comments were praising her

Rotation wasn't enough? Probably....

Thanks Cohaix and Mikaboo for the confirmation. Sota body shape almost like Yuzu and when he wore similar to Yuzu practice clothes, they almost looks the same

Gambatte Rin and the Japanese ladies that are trying 3A :cheer2:

this gifset from The Ice is too funny
Satoko walks by the camera like a boss, not even winks
Queen Kaitlyn needs to be escorted by 2 gentlemen
Kozuka is dorky as usual
Akiko wants to be seen
Mao is a cutie
Poor Kanako is left behind but she is happy as usual

I played it on slow-mo and it looks 3 rotations to me (instead of 3.5) but I'm not an expert. Nice try though! The video has fired Wakaba up

3 is enough at this point! Keep it up! Go little samurai girls:cheer:

I thought it funny how some skaters are fine while some other really struggle with balancing! Is it the slope that makes them nervous?
The gif sets are from this website but I wondered if the videos here are geo-blocked or not.

(Oh, I want to go next week the ice in Sendai...)

I am fantasizing that if I were to go, I want to go to the 1st show in Sendai to see Hiroaki Sato. And Nobu will be there too.

The first of THE ICE broadcast is tomorrow but I have a feeling it'll be more of a documentary type of a program.
I hope we get to see some programs of skaters besides Mao-chan's.

Sports news covering the JSF training camp in Karuizawa.
I'm curious to know how many days Stephane and Jeff Buttle end up staying in Japan every year. It seems like they are here for most of the summer when humidity is the worst!

Kozuka is cutting back on training time because his hip joints are hurting again :hopelessness: He'll spend the next 4 months building his physique to prepare for CoC. (He'll most probably not compete at JO I assume)

I also read on another article that it wasn't until this month that he decided to continue competing

Wakaba is still planning to add 3A to her FS in the second half of the season. She is landing them with both feet at the moment and thinks she needs to "float a bit more". I don't know what that means. Maybe she needs more height

Shoma and Sota are inseparable and have to sit next to each other on the bus even if there are plenty of empty seats

Sota and Stéphane
Sota says that he got lessons from Stéphane for his Poeta program.
Looking forward to an improved Poeta with a touch of Stéphane in it!

i wonder for how much longer can kozuka handle the pain :hopelessness: i loooove his btw! looks so shiny and healty

so excited for sota next season and its great that Lambiel gave him advice for his SP!!! :cheer:

Aww, nice to see Shoma and Sota reunited.

I am glad they've had Stephane's input. I think he must love being in a country that values FS so much.

I have read previously that Kozuka may needed a surgery but he has yet go through with it, is this correct? Would a surgery help his condition?

I don't know the whole story, but there is this article from 2013 about what condition he was in.

But I'm not sure what surgery the article is talking about here because it says it'd take 6 months to heal if he went through surgery but my understanding of having surgery done on your hip joints takes longer than that so maybe it was talking about having surgery done on his right ankle.

I read an interview in a sports science magazine last year in which he said he was introduced to a trainer from Phiten who was able to figure out what his problems are and has been supporting Kozuka work around them. I don't know if it's still working for him though because his coach has been revealing after every competition after Nationals that he's been in pain and hasn't been able to train well.

Somehow I don't think having surgery done is an option for him at the moment. I have a feeling that he just wants to have one last good season and retire and avoid surgery all together. This is just my assumption though.

Thanks for the info Mikaboo. I also have the same assumption as yours. Maybe surgery will be an option after he retires where he will have more time to heal properly (rather than constraint to start training for competition) so that his future life or pro-skate with less pain.
