Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

In HD the dance looks AMAZING. I'm still overwhelmed by the choreo, it's definitely 'my' style.
And I'm so glad that Y/M, B/S and I/Z prepared such different dances! I'm so excited to see who's gonna be on top.:cheer:

All I want to know is, how do you learn to glide like that in less than 18 months together? That was incredible. They did some serious work. Serious work.

It's gonna be a big fight for Worlds!

After test skates all I see is that B/S and I/Z are on a different level than everybody else. They're just better, better basic skills, better quality, edges, lines, very good programms. We didn't see S/K yet. So far I don't see other teams making the team for Worlds, if both B/S and I/Z are healthy and skate relatively cleanly.

But the battle for a third slot for Euros will be CRUEL.

I also think that B/S and I/Z are the best combination for the World`s team. But I am curious about that third spot in the Euro`s team, IMO, it should be between Y/M and M/K. S/B didn`t convince me. I think it`s going to be an interesting fight for the Russian #1. Modern vs. Tradition. I can`t wait for the season to begin

This FD is something else. This is a really good stuff there. They are not just showing some good skates but are also telling a story and are doing it quite convincing. I even got in the mood of the story and felt bit sad at the end of it. Antonio really knows his business.
From rock queen to Frida. Yesterday they were all smiles I was all smiles and this is so mature. I am happy for them. I am sure the public and the judges will really like both their programs. Of course they have a lot of work to do but I hope this year IZ fight for medals and titles, because these programs deserve it.

I think a lot of it will depend on how they are perceived by the judges during the GP season. Obviously B/S have a rep but I/Z were so warmly welcomed that I guess we can only start saying one is really better than the other after we see some scores. And then the fed will probably push the higher scoring couple out in front.

We're talking about potential, of course. And it's obvious to me that I/Z and B/S are technically and presentation-wise better than the other teams.;)

But I agree that time will tell. Let the DRAMA begin! :drama::drama::drama:

Probably. It was the same with B/S vs. I/K.

Well the strange thing I don't like about the Sochi team event is that it created a bunch of Olympic Champions out of the blue. Kogan the fed general director praised B/S and forgot the rest, he basically talked about the comebacks.
But when you have a winning dance, and a couple that can do what others do and even better in 18 months you praise them, don't be afraid of hurting the 'Olympic Champions', you will need it later on. I'm just so amazed such a new team can already be compared with B/S let's say.
Of course russian ice dancing is such a Hunger Games situation with different groups, their journalist friends, fed friends and the attacks all around.I wish they'd be more like Canada for example, where all their teams are so amazing. They know how to sell them.Even though it's fake :laugh2:

There is a point at the step sequence in hold where Lena kicks back, it's amazing, so many little details in there. Or some leg movement in the very beginning, it's not only the arms, the feet are very interesting throughout the dance. Little things here and there, it's a dance and not just an array of elements, and they look so different from what people would expect a year ago. Right now there is nothing left from S/Z or I/K in both of them, and they have blended as a whole. I see a team of the same level, and the same style.

I worry Elena is too happy and drama-free in life these days to light up as she used to...

Houston we have a problem. We're happy and drama free. We need to suffer and be miserable. :laugh2:

I'm officially sold. I can't wait for the costuming and actual good footage and sound etc.
Also imagine this in Barcelona.

It`s an amazing dance. With this version I`m able to catch much more of the details. I really hope they will be in Barcelona, especially since I bought a ticket to the GPF

I read that, too, Alba :laugh2:

Wasn't that the point in being a I/K fan? I/Z can't offer this form of superior drama.

But oh yes, they can offer real skating, with nuances, details and inherent connection.

I swear, I thought for a moment that was a joke or being ironic. Nope, it was serious. :hopelessness::laugh2:

Puhlease, the current leaders in ice dance seem to be doing quite well in "dramafree" land. I think it's was about time that a Russian pair had the experience. Absolute nonsense. :disapp::rolleye:

Apparently it`s something very unusual for a Russian Ice Dance team to have a warm, friendly and committed relationship.

Rewatch the Eurosport commentary of the SD in CoC last season - Mark Hanretty was going on and on about how she didn't shine like she did with Nikita, and then every other time they did Carmen she absolutely slayed. First performance of a program doesn't tell you anything about the rest of the season, and I/Z weren't even bad this weekend! From the way that some people have been going on you'd think she'd completely forgotten how to skate.

But wasn't that always the case with these people and Elena? Even in the IK era? When there is nothing wrong they need to vent about the fact she's so perfect. When did we last see her doing full runthroughs at that speed and so smooth, and with such intricate programs in September? Right, never.

And checking the rest of the programs, the others looked like new teams that barely can skate their programs. I read somewhere about B/S being the leaders, well then this probably means Russia doesn't want a world title. They are generous people.

I guess the point is exactly this like Marc last season, people expect to see I/K, they won't cause I/Z are more of a technically precise, and artistic team, totally different in style. And Elena in I/Z is Elena of I/Z, from the very beginning a more technical skater, less lolitesque a la Morozov and flashy. This is , you either like it or not, if you don't. just don't start distorting technical stuff like some people did.

But really the old ones, we know these attacks, right?:laugh2:
