2015 Nebelhorn Trophy General Chat

Quick stat check: Max Aaron's score is the highest among the U.S. men in the SP overall and in TES. Ross Miner still has a slightly higher PCS.

Is Kostya injured?

Because when he was coming off the ice, he looked like he was in pain.

And the irony is, Debbi was talking about his shoulder problems from a couple of years ago at the time.

He still doesn't look terribly comfortable sitting on the sofa.

^You mean for this season right? I think this new short program score will put him into third overall behind Jason and Joshua for personal bests of the currently competing US men.

Yes, for the season! Will edit!

I'm not that surprised that the top junior skaters are having a slightly better go of things right now than the seniors. Yes it's the Challenger Series but that's not nearly as important as the Senior Grand Prix which doesn't even start for another month.

Debbi interviewing Michal.

Most interesting bit: He and Danielle Montalbano are planning to get married in 2017. They have a date set, but he's not telling us!

Now she's interviewing Florent. Talking about the music choice.

Thx, Mrs. P :).
Very exciting for Max  and for Phillip Mills .

The mentions of Jurassic in this thread are a good excuse to post these photos of Max, Mirai, and Alexa/Chris  #tbt:

(I was on the phone earlier and missed hearing with my own ears how Zakrajsek was pronounced, but am going by the posts here ;).)

Thanks Brezina for continuing to break my heart by talking about your fiancée and knowing I never had a chance.

Happy for him though. :) Nice to hear him be so happy. And his English is perfect as well.

True Samson and for a lot of them it is just a matter of getting their programs out there for the feel of it and too see how the judges react to it. How well they do here is really not going to matter in the long run except for maybe the winner who will be seen as the 'winner' and it might give them a boost for the rest of the season.

^Yeah I always think about that, Sackie. I often wonder if being a winner at one of these early events can be a great way to change or control your narrative going into the season. I think at the end of the day it still comes down to you're as good as your last competition, but for sure a good win here can be a fabulous way to start momentum for the season, but many skaters have also shown us that a slow start doesn't have to mean a fizzle at the end.

Samson I think it has more to do with your Rep going in. It is not going to hurt someone with a good rep if they underperform but if you don't have a good rep already and you outshine others it can set you up very nicely. Loom at what winning here did for Osmond.
Yes Max has a rep already but winning here can set him up nicely for the rest of the season when you look at the depth of the US men.

Been in that boat many times over the years. First time I remember was when when Billie Piper (my first singing crush) married Chris Evans.

But, in the end, if you really care about somebody, you want them to be happy. And if that is with somebody else, so be it.

Doesn't mean it doesn't hurt, though.

And it doesn't mean we have to stop fantasizing... ;)
