Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

I'd assume if we haven't heard about them going at this point, they aren't going as they would have to fly out soon.

It could be kept under wraps. I thinks it's ridiculous S/B are going to Stavinski Cup. Easy victory since no one goes....

I mean I get they want competition practice before the GPs and since Bukin was ill they couldn't go to Finlandia and obv weren't invited to Saransk.. but yeah. They're also less than 300 points ahead and Idk I guess it's not as important for now but I just want Ruslena to be ahead

Could it be for an exhibition program? I don't think they are going to change anything about the SD now. Even if they don't go to Finlandia, Saransk is soon enough.

I doubt they need them for an exhb number and judging by this picture it's the waltz. I think they're working with them not to change things but most probably on the style, posture etc. These details that are needed and important for the SD. This is the guy they were working with, Genya Malko, ballroom instructor in California.
And also with two ex skaters who now perform on Ice Shows, Daria Perminova and Evgenii Belyanin.

Daria is pretty cool where lifts are concerned. Great posture and ease. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ufKzyUTxsA So it looks as though they're working with both ballroom and lift specialists.

That wouldn't hurt. Their lifts have improved so much already that it would be nice if they learn some new tricks and maybe use it in the second half of the season. ;)

I agree. I was so impressed with their lifts at the test skate. They look a lot more at ease with each other not that they weren't before, they just needed time to adjust. I imagine they are tweeting and probably working on the nuances. I think they are in a great place at this point in the season.

Unless a lift proves problematic they probably won't change it in the middle of the season, but several teams work on lifts for future seasons(D/W's Scheherazade lift, Chock/Bates An American in Paris lift, etc.) so they could do that.

That's what I'm thinking. They were working on some version of their first lift for these two off seasons, so I' sure they're already working on other lifts for next season, maybe that's the reason they didn't have an exhibition last season. It just takes that much time for a new dance pair to gel.

S/B are removed from the entry list and so are I/Z, so there was all hope for Finlandia! We will have to wait until Saransk.

Testa/Csolley are now 276 points infront of Elena and Ruslan, which means they have to win Saransk to surpass them in the World Rankings, otherwise they are again in the first warm-up group at COC together with the Chinese couples. I know that start order didn`t hurt them last year, but it would be good if they could skate together with C/L and C/B in the second group :ohwell:
