I also think that nothing will change, but those PCS for SB were laughable. The judges wanted them as third and they adjusted the result with the PCS.

IZ beat them because of higher BV, otherwise SB would have been second in the FD. SB actually got better GOE on step sequences. Are those judges kidding?

Pretty much. I am pissed about the scoring itself. How is ice dance supposed to be taken seriously with these scores. A fair weather fan will be dumber now to think that S/K was worthy of either of their scores.

The russian specialists seem to think that they can still decide who's the best ice dancing couple in the world. Nope. They can only decide who's the best ice dancing couple in Russia. I thought that they would make wise decisions but I was wrong. Now I expect that Russia will make one medal at Europeans (bronze, if nothing unexpected happens) and no medal at Worlds in ID. And they'll have only two spots at Worlds next season. Again.
I hope that Elena and Ruslan will do a couple of small competitions this season, they need competitions and they need to get reactions from the crowd. Maybe they should try another music for the SD. Just to see how the crowd reacts to a change. I really like their sophisticated FD, but it's not a crowd-pleaser. And they need the crowd. Was somebody there? Was the crowd in the arena displeased with the result yesterday? Would be interesting to know.

I don't know. I think honestly that they were being sent a message but not a message of total doom. I think the message was twofold

1. Skate clean
2. Make easier to like and understand programs

The first part of the message is fair. But they have a decision to make about the second part. It is likely they can't remain100% true to their artistic vision and still do this. So they have to decide if they want to be a bit more results oriented and sacrifice some of their creativity, or if they want to be 100% true to their vision and continue to get snowed. I Do think it is relevant to mention that the international judges are killing their scores too- this isn't a brand new nationals phenomenon, though their placement below SB would not have happened internationally, sure.

I do think they have to decide, unfortunately, what it's going to be... If results are important to them or not. It's unfortunate but reality is reality.

This is my feeling too. I also don't think more classical or traditional material has to mean no creativity- Carmen is as traditional as they come, but that was awesome when they did it.

Exactly, there are so many different classic dances/ballets/whatever you could go for (that includes strong female characters, which seems a theme they keep going for)... I hope they will do something more traditional as well. When they first announced the music for this year I was not excited - Queen seemed cool but yeah. I want an epic piece. In true Ruslena fashion.

No one ever uses Manon in skating, but I think the bedroom and final pas de deux would be perfect.
