I never used to watch ice dance, but it was the Shibutanis who got me into ice dance in the first place and here I am now, awake in the middle of the night to see them get their first national title! This is so amazing, they are amazing.

I am overjoyed by their performance and placement today This has been a long time in coming and I am so proud of them, not only for this but for how classy they have consistently been throughout the years on their journey! Hopefully the next stop will be their second world medal!

CONGRATS TO THE SHIBS!!!!!!!! I'm overjoyed. I was SO nervous for them but then SO elated when I saw the score!!! I really didn't know what the judges were going to do after C&B skated so well. The reaction from Marina, Maia, and Alex in the kiss and cry was just so incredibly precious. SO HAPPY FOR THEM!!! I'm so happy I don't know which emoticons to use. So many choices. I'll go with :dance::hap85:

I'm just over the moon for Maia and Alex! I had hoped that if they skated lights out they would win it. I haven't watched their performance but I almost screamed at the cinema when I saw the scores! Congratulations Shibs on their first National Title, hopefully this will carry to 4 CC and Worlds

Just finished watching my recorded event, didn't spoil myself with the scores beforehand so you can imagine how much I was praying that they would win! FINALLY! So glad that these two wonderful programs are the ones to push them to the top, and also how much the audience love it! Go for a World medal guys!

I am happy BEYOND WORDS for Maia and Alex. They and Kayne/O'Shea's performance has made my Nationals so far. I was feeling bummed out from not seeing Jason, Joshua, or Ricky compete this weekend.

Now, here's to hopefully them continuing to do well and even winning 4CCs. I feel like if they win 4CCs, it will help them it hopefully medalling at Worlds again - especially in Boston. I believe Maia and Alex were born there, correct?

What an amazing performance from Maia and Alex!! UNBELIEVABLE!
Their Gold medal is fully deserved. I am SOOO happy to see they are now the US champions.

You know, I am a huge fan of Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, not because I am french (we had several amazing french couples in the past) but mostly because Gabriella and Guillaume bring something new and fresh to ice dance. Maia and Alex are following the same path and that's SO great, believe me. I think we should have tremendous World championships in Boston. The competition will be very exciting and tied imHo. Maia/Alex will fight for the World title, this is obvious to me. I think they were already the best US couple in Barcelona but the judges decided otherwise.

I would also like to congratulate Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue. They made such a huge jump compared to US Nationals 2015 with 14 points more!!! What a performance from these two. Their move to Montréal training with other couples (Gabriella & Guillaume of course and also Alexandra & Paul) was definitely the right decision! That is very clear.

Maia/Alex and Madison/Zach are both super ice dance couples. I just love them so much for their performances and their talents :thumbsup:
