Alexander Petrov

Of course he isn't lying! Plushy had a news crew at his operation, and people still thought it was fake. Some people just like to believe the worst - it make them feel clever. "Ooo, I can see better through a brick wall than the next person, and all I see there is nasty!" (pats back in self-approbation) I have little time and zero patience for such people.

I won't even address that matter further, as it makes me so angry.

(Note: I interpreted "poisoning" to mean food poisoning, and the symptoms as described certainly seemed to fit that assumption. Was that a mistake on my part?)

Onto more pleasant matters - my husband was waxing quite lyrical yesterday about the beauty of Sasha's skate.:)

A bit worrisome about the 3A reports - but I hope he lands it in competition; and if not, that he doesn't let it disrupt the rest of his program. I am going to be very anxious, of course, as he skates, but I know he will be out there doing his best, and I will be hoping for the best.

He didn't say specifically "food" poisoning. The other word that the online translators gave me was "intoxication". So it could have been anything toxic that went into his system- a virus or bacteria (from food or some other source), that caused him to fall ill.

Your husband seems to have become increasingly appreciative of Sasha's skating. That's really nice to hear. :)
And yes, certainly there is a lot of beauty in his skating. This picture says it all really: http://i.imgur.com/4slpqgY.jpg

The practice report worries me too. But... what can we do.

I'm so proud of him. One year ago he let illness beat him and today he fought against it and won.
He really has a champion's mentality this year.
Thank you Sasha!

Smooth as butter, those 3As, adelia! I was thinking that practice reports sometimes can be a mixed blessing.:)

Funny how this sense of calm came over me just before Sasha was about to start his program. I said a prayer for him anyway, and spent the program on the edge of my seat. He did great - and a new SB.:)

I almost overslept, my cat woke me up when she decided to use the loo. For real.

I'm so so proud of Sasha! Even though that it wasn't perfect, that was still absolutely beautiful no doubt about that.
And now he really should be proud of himself.

It was not as "clean" as Rus Nats but in my heart, this skate is just as worthy. And yeah, it was absolutely beautiful. :)

Yes, this made me even more happy than rus nats. And new seasons best for Sasha despite some minor imperfections. So I'm very pleased.

Well, it's the second competition in a row that Sasha has beaten the Russian National Champion on TES in the FS without having to land even one quad. ;)

Interview, Version 1 Team-Russia site:

*My own comments are in [ ]

"Today, January 28, at the European Championships in figure skating in Bratislava (Slovakia) played the first set of awards - in the men's figure skating. Russian Alexander Petrov for the execution of any program received 152.74 points, and on aggregate short and long programs - 229.69. Alexander Petrov comment after the show leads the special correspondent of the portal TEAM RUSSIA-2014 Boris Jodorowsky.

It was hard - breathed Alexander Petrov. - Very tired physically. Affected poisoning after returning from gathering in Tartu (Estonia). It's not an excuse, but a statement of fact. [Addressed to his critics perhaps.]

- After his debut in the European Championship you feel your man in elite figure skating?
In this company my feeling for a long time. It is in his first Grand Prix Final shade of authority, and at the second felt quite comfortable. [He's referring to JGPF]

- But the junior finals were, where you were just looking training and performances of world stars. And now willing to throw down the gauntlet to his idol Javier Fernandez?
Fernandez is not my idol. Although among the top athletes, he impressed me more than others. But the rivalry we are not talking. I just go out on the ice - and I try to do everything that I can.

- In the face of Alexei Mishin is impossible to understand, satisfied he hire his disciple or not. As he assessed your rental in hot pursuit?
More noted positive moments. Hopefully, a more careful analysis of it will.

- Jumping you cool, mishinskie. We agree that the other elements is not up to them?
I completely agree. Just in its present physical condition, I was not ready to show in all its splendor the spins and step sequence.

- At the world championships at the two Russian quota in the men's competition, and you're unlikely to get. There are plans for the continuation of the season?
Next week will fly to Sarajevo (Bosnia), where I will take part in the tournament "B" series. A statement in the final of the Cup of Russia in Saransk or not - I do not know. The final word of the coach."

Sounds like he won't be sent to Junior Worlds. :(

Interview, Version 2 Rsport.ru site:

"It's hard physically had to act as the latter came out (in the warm-up), and was then poisoned. These two factors influenced my rent," - said Petrov told reporters.

"Swept the rivals I have not looked. Of course, if in front of me out Javier (Fernandez) or Maxim (Kovtun), I'll be watching, and if rivals of equal power, I will refrain. I mash, focused and go out on the ice," - I noticed a skater, acknowledging that during the start he is not liberated.

"Perhaps influenced responsibility. For the future, I will consider it, I shall try to overcome myself, to become more free. I think next season will be better" - said the skater.

He noted that his coach Alexei Mishin praised his performance in Bratislava "positive." "Because the task, at least I have done. Skated as I can, I did everything I could," - he added.

For Euros Sasha earned 402 points and that goes into the first column in the ranking table.
His SB is 31st. It would be good if he can crack the top 24 (or to be safer, top 22), by doing well at a senior B. Do the scores from Sarajevo Open even count towards SBs though? Last season his Nice Cup scores did not count.

Snicker. Seems I inadvertently downloaded the Sarajevo Open form... Yes, I'm internet illiterate.:) (Should be computer illiterate no doubt - but hey, alliteration!)
