Sara Hurtado & Adrià Díaz split

Such a great read. I had both tears in my eyes and a doze of a good laugh. I wish she could find a partner, I truly miss her on the ice.

Me too, I miss both, I guess Adria will have an easier time getting a new partner.

Adria has a new partner: British Ice Dancer Olivia Smart.

Thank you for the interview. It is an emotional and interesting interview. She made the best choice for her own happiness and that requires a lot of courage! 2nd year of the olympic cycle is probably the worst time to find a new partner but I'm wishing her all the best!

OMG, I did not know it, thanks, great news!!

Sure I understand but what is pragmatic. One would think I and K were fools to break up. d and w and v and m were "retiring"; and I and K had not even hit I think their full potential or close to it technically or artistically. It didn't hurt they looked wonderful together too lol.

Do you know why I and K broke up? That was surprising, I thought they did well at the sochi olympics.

I didn't know this couple adria and sara, but adria's new partner is cute....they look better together than adria and sara. Best of luck to both of them :)

They had a volatile relationship. Their inconsistent results throughout their career is a testament to that. Rumors were that they dated while still with Zhulin and he cheated on her or dumped her or something like that. Zhulin called them lazy so they must not have motivated each other to really train. Then they moved to Nikolai Morosov and Morosov, the predator that he is, pounced. Morosov and Elena dated, not helping the Elena/Nikita relationship much, then I think they broke up some time in the Sochi season and Nikolai and Nikita started acting like bros (posting pics on social media together, etc.).

I am extremely happy for Alex that he was able to find anew partner, and so quickly :cheer: I wish them all the best as they begin their partnership!

ETA: and also good for the British federation for releasing her what must have been essentially immediately. That was good of them.

I do have to say Zhulin loves to say skaters who leave his group were lazy. It starts to feel a bit convenient after a while...

Well to be fair to Zhulin, he isn't the only one who said that I/K were lazy. Tarasova, Vlasova (their ballet teacher) also said they didn't train enough. Nathalie Pechalat also said when she was doing commentary on French Eurosport at COR that I/K had a lot of problems in training when she was skating with them in Zhulin's group.

There's a whole 189 pages thread for anyone that's interest in the drama of I/K's split.

Here is a message from Olivia Smart posted on 15 January 2016:

After officially receiving my Release certificate from Great Britain, Adrian and I are happy to announce our upcoming seasons together as a new team representing Spain!

Starting 2016 as a fresh start and back into full training here in Montreal, aside some of the best team mates and coaches!

We are both excited for the new experiences to come together and as we have both said from the start of our training 'everything's a work in progress' Bring on the new season!

Elena said in an interview sometime before last season that she and Nikita never really dated. I don't think she had a reason to lie about it.

Who knows what the real story is. What I do see is that they both seem happier in their new partnerships. As for inconsistent results, that seems to continue in their new partnerships as well.

but they are both very attractive people, I wouldn't doubt that nothing didn't happen between them. She probably meant they were fooling around, but that doesn't mean you are dating them. :)

omg, that is a whole lot of drama  That's why it's better to keep it professional because if you end up hurting someone you work with, it will end badly.

Actually I don't remember exactly how she said it - that they never dated, that they were never an item, that there was nothing like that between them or something else.
