2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

http://www.ntv.co.jp/challengecup2016/player/index.html

Team Asia has just been announced:
Uno, Ten, Miyahara, Tursunbayeva, Sui/Han, Suto/BAudet, Kim/Minov, Wang/Liu

Team Captain: Arakawa Shizuka

Thx, Marin.

So a total of three entries -- Fernandez; Hanyu; Ryom/Kim -- declined invitations that were based on ISU World Standings.

Suto/Boudreau-Audet had zero ISU World Standings points on Jan 1, but still ended up being invited.

And Misha Ge takes 75% of the votes so far in the Commonwealth of Pennsylavania!

I did my part:cheer:

So it seems Hanyu and Asada said that the schedule after Boston and TCC were conflicted and they declined.

Hanyu declined the invitation according press meeting earlier, because the preparation for WC and TCC will conflict with his later schedule.

... Also, why is there only 1 Japanese nominee in the Captain's Picks? ...

And now we know why Rika was the only Japanese skater left to be nominated.

The only other potential nominee was Shoma, but he was invited based on ISU World Standings, meaning that Yuzuru declined.

Satoko was invited based on ISU World Standings. And we knew days ago that Mao has the schedule conflict of Lambiel's ice show.

... somebody needs to mobilize people to vote for Misha Ge:hap10:

LOL, Misha Ge and his fans already were quick out of the gate to start mobilizing people to vote for Misha Ge.

If he does not win, it will not be for lack of campaigning. (He is in good company -- other skaters also are campaigning and/or being campaigned for.)

Umm... apparently you can vote more than once if you have several devices. I was able to vote once from my desktop and once from my tablet, and I have the same IP for both. Isn't voting restricted to one IP?

edit - votes:

Asia: So Youn Park, Misha Ge

NA: Alaine Chartrand, Liam Firus.

Europe: Elena Radionova :), Maxim Kovtun (please land both the quads and the trixels!)

I haven't cast my vote yet, but am surprised to find out Zijun has so low votes among the three candidates for Asia.

-----------------------------
Voted now.

North America: Ashley Wagner, Adam Rippon
Asia: Zijun Li, Boyang Jin
Europe: Angelina Kucvalska, Mikhail Kolyada

not during nominations... at the time.. .meaning, right before doing them... and as far as I see it, most people don't mind so much that there are 3 nominees, except perhaps yourself ;) a uniform format is the easiest one to swallow for fans/voters
"Rules got clarified" during nominations? That's cute, especially considering those last-minute 'rule clarifications' have never been announced or clarified to us even now. It's all mysterious and determined on the spot, just like any good rigged system should be.

Yes, because all of the Team Captains going with the same limited uniform format in naming their nominees won't lead to any speculation whatsoever!

Suto/Boudreau-Audet had zero ISU World Standings points on Jan 1, but still ended up being invited.

:furious: :furious: :furious:

I can't even describe my feelings towards the ISU right now. They'd all be starred out and I'd probably get an infraction. Screw you, screw you, screw you, ISU.

lol i think the emojis say it all... don't get an infraction over tcc ...not worth it :laugh2:

2 Mishas dont get enough votes:(
& Zijun! only 9%:sad4:

Going to email my sis to vote from her office!!!

Given that it's voluntary, the demographics could be as reliable as an exit poll.
I posted that Im 5 yo:yay:

Ok, so it seems that only top skaters from NA did not decline invitations ( I mean those who were nominated based on world ranking) :(

I voted for So Youn Park, Angelina Kuchvalska and Alaine Chartrand for Ladies :hap10:
It was harder to choose men, but here's my picks: Han Yan, Mikhail Kolyada & Adam Rippon.

Already voted and I think I'll vote more times from a different device.

Ladies: Hongo, Radionova & Wagner;
Men: Han, Kolyada & Rippon

Looks like Japan vs Korea bot-wars are in progress...?

I was pretty worried Denis wouldnt heqal but yay! Great news indeed

Technically, only Yuzu and Javier declined the invitation which is send out based on World Ranking.

I think the same people who devised COP wrote the rules for this competition. :)
