Well, I think Kurt isn't biased or subjective we all know that for several years he has been big Yuzu supporter and he highly values Yuzu.. Kurt usually loves to use "strong" words while commenting, it has been his style I think the word "rogue" was a bit jokish ....I understand it may sound rude but he is like that loves to use "boyish" words .

I'm not sure if Kurt was talking about Yuzuru but I remember watching Han Yan SP runthough from this 4CC and there was a moment with another skater. No collision happenned but well it reminded me of CoC14.

Exactly. So that was the only moment that came into my mind about a possible collision at latest 4CC. But perhaps he was jokingly talking about CoC14, listening to his comment right now, I like to listen to his commentary.

The funny thing to me is that, Han also got a medal at 4CC last year if my memory saved me; and Kurt had been holding for a year to congrat on "he finally gets a medal"? You might want to pay more attention to your boy if you like him so much like what you claimed LOL

Honestly, I don't think it is relevant to say who he favors more. He was just commenting on things popping up in his mind, that's it; though I personally don't buy his "joke".

I meant he wouldn't put down Yuzuru in order to praise Han Yan.

Well, I listened to the entire commentary. To me Kurt was saying this: Han Yan usually does pretty good if not being punched by someone at a warmup. Again- calling Yuzu (who's slender and quite delicate and weighs quite little) a rough guy is Kurt's way of joking, I get it, not offence there to me. The memories awakened by this joke are not pretty at all but I get the black humor he has and I don't see anything bad below the lines.

I definitely would not go there LOL Considering Kurt's history of being criticized of using aggressive and "offensive" words, I am fine with it He didn't sound like he had thought thoroughly. Kudos for PJ though

There's nothing offensive behind Kurt's words. It's just his humour and it wouldn't surprise me if he said another time that Yuzu was hit across the ice by a random Chinese skater. With Kurt you can't take what he says literally because he's always playing with words, phrases, making up jests... doesn't bother me at all.

I used to dislike him a bit in the past but I've gotten used to his commentary and I appreciate his knowledge.

I feel it's too aggressive and not a good joke. I don't remember Kurt ever being so aggressive to the skaters he likes. Could someone provide some examples how Kurt joked aggressively against skaters he likes?

I think that is probably the case here. There have been times though that Kurt has been perfectly serious and made comments about Yuzuru that I don't agree with such as implying that Yuzuru's R & J 2 costume will hinder Yuzuru in becoming Olympic champion (CBC recap podcast on the 2013 GPF) and saying that Patrick "is the bigger skater" in the CBC commentary on Yuzuru's 2014 GPF LP. That being said, overall he has generally been complimentary about Yuzuru. He is of course like all of us entitled to his opinion.

I never had too much of an issue with Kurt's comment about Patrick being a bigger skater than Yuzu because I think I understand what he meant. Often I feel like the arena is too small for patrick, like it can't contain him... whereas I find Yuzu fits the arena perfectly. I don' t see it as a critique of either one, just a comparison. My stab at an explanation is that sometimes Patrick approaches his quads like he is a freight train, while Yuzu is more of a high speed passenger train.... both powerful, capable, but with different weight behind them... hope that makes sense.

And I think he was affectionately teasing about Yuzu being that rogue skater capable of knocking over Han yan. It's funny to think of slim yuzu being able to take out the bigger guy, lol. It would be comparable to him saying poor anton sikharulidze, being flattened by that rogue Canadian (jamie sale). It is funny... with rogue being an affectionate term.

I wrote that I didn't agree with the comments not that they were offensive. I must admit though by training and temperament, it takes a lot to offend me.
