GS Meetup at Worlds 2016!

Cool... I will add it to the meetups list. I might have to recruit a pizza pick up person if we have a lot of pizzas to pick up, LOL.

I need to buy something yellow.

Since you are so special, I think you should wear a yellow flower on your coat!

I'd be happy to call in the order and pick up although if it's a big order I might need re-enforcement to help carry all the boxes . Regina's is about 6 minutes walk from the arena (according to google maps). Another option is to have it delivered, I called Regina's and they gave me a number of a delivery service that will deliver their pizzas.

I will recruit you as the pizza order lady. :) Thank you. I am willing to help carry the boxes, but delivery might be worth our while.

Chris's urging for me to call the pizzeria gave me a great idea!

Nguynhm had proposed meeting between the SD and the opening ceremony/Men's SP. Would anyone be interested in meeting at North Station train waiting area and getting takeout pizza from Regina Pizzeria in the North End?

The pizzeria was recommended in the Boston as a Tourist thread. I (or someone else) can call an order ahead of time (maybe during the Ice Dance resurfacing) and pick it up.

It also be a great way to get a big group of people together without having to try to fit in a restaurant! Thoughts?

Hmm....now that might be something I can partake in...

I don't know the North Train Station area - is there a large food court there?

The food court isn't super big, but it has a McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts and some other places. There's a big waiting area where we could all sit and it's a fun place to people watch. There is actually a pizza stand there, but I think it would be fun to order out, especially if it's a big group.

IT sounds like we won't be able to go there during ice resurfaces (which I did at Nationals) but it's a great spot to get a coffee between sessions or before the competition starts for a day.

That sounds like an excellent idea and I would like to partake as well. Just thinking of the logistics. How should we pay for the pizza so someone won't coming out of pocket up front?

I'm in! As long as we can get the magic pizza that has no calories in it. That doesn't exist? Oh well, I'm still in! By the way, anyone with any reservations about the Slack app that was being mooted as the one for keeping the group in touch, I knew nothing about it but installed it and it's easy-peasy so it gets a vote of confidence from me!

No problem ;). The delivery option does not seem bad, minimum $20 free delivery and the pizza prices are the same (according to on line menus). I'd be glad to place the order either way.

Bit of a long shot here: I'll be seeing my long-time pals Pure Bathing Culture playing at the Royale in Boston on Tuesday the 29th. If anyone in the area happens to be going to the show and to Worlds that week, drop me a line!

Aw I wish I knew about this. They sound cool, but it looks like tix are sold out!

Surprised they sold out already. Maybe I'm showing my age, but 'sold out' to me just means standing in a cramped mass of humanity for hours. :scowl: Oh well, I'm really only going for the opening act PBC, and I'll probably catch up with them pre-show. Don't know much about the main act Lucius -- might hang around for a couple of songs just to see, though I'll likely be exiting early.

Too bad you can't make it, I love PBC! They are amazing people, I'm glad they will be part of an amazing week in Boston!

Have a great time! I just realize that I probably wouldn't be back in time. I'm meeting a friend for dinner right after I arrive and I probably won't be back by 7 p.m. I see they're based in PDX though, so maybe I can see them closer to home sometime.

Yeah, you'd probably be better off doing that. They are always touring the Pacific NW. Tix would be cheaper and the shows more intimate.

OT - Lucius are really good live, saw them at WFUV holiday concert in December. Indie pop with harmonizing vocals.

OK, I went back to A.C. Moore again (that place is addictive), and bought an inexpensive painter's cap in bright yellow (which I decorated with honeybee & ladybug stickers, & skating lapel pins), so that should also help as identifying me with our GS group.

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Okay, I just had to get that out of my system. After months of longingly looking at you all planning your trips and wishing I could afford to be there too, I just was able to get an inexpensive ticket last-minute, totally unexpected (thanks GS for the For Sale forum!), and now I get to come! Now I've just got to figure out where I'm going to stay, but hey, details. :hap93::hap85::hap93: So now I need to peruse all these threads--I want to be a part of everything! :yahoo:

A few updates for you all!

** I just resent Slack invites to those who haven't responded yet. If you asked for an invite and haven't been able to get on Slack (i.e. haven't received the email, can't get the app, whatever) check in with me.

** I will be working on the mobile updates list in the next few days.

** Paula, the Golden Skate website owner, has donated $200 for pizza for our meetup on Wednesday, March 30! Yay! She wanted to do this as a thank you for being part of the forum. So more reason to join us. Free pizza will be first-come, first-serve. There's plenty of other food choices in the North Station, so if you're still hungry there are other options We'll probably order 10 pizzas, so about 80 slices. If the weather's nice, we can actually meet at the park right next to the arena!

** We got 8 people so far for brunch/lunch (depending on what place we have) at 10 a.m., April 1. If you're interested or want to confirm you'll be joining us, PM or email me or Slack me... :)

That's it for now.
