2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

Well, producing random character sequences is not thaaaaaaaaaaaaaat challenging =)
But mostly, i just dont see how this is better than before, really. Why bother changing etc?

well yeah, but getting a bot to do it and do different ones in addition to voting is more difficult.

Only marginally. Imagine the 'bot' was essentially a macro that would load the poll and 'click' the mouse at specific coordinates on the screen where the skater(s) image are located, then close the page, and reload again to repeat.

Since the poll is still just one page, with both the skater's image to click and a field that will accept any string that looks like a valid email address, all one would need to do is incorporate an auto-fill for the email field within the same macro along with the mouse coordinate clicks to vote.

No need to create real email addresses, just use a random email generator like this one.

Still would've been better off starting from scratch and using a captcha.

You dont even need a special generator, it is like a 5 second hack to make your own brand one =D

At any rate well... =D I just wonder about this change - the new is as bad as the old one, would be easier to just pretend the old votes were perfectly ok - the result would be same and less reputation damages.

At any rate, Woobox needs some time - it was started pretty recently and many people didnt have the opportuinity to vote yet.

Oh yeah, it's [the voting idea] brilliant. Speaking of that: hopefully people start buying more tickets soon. Just got an email this afternoon from USFS, they are deep discounting the TCC ticket prices across the board. All-event tix Row 2-8 are reduced by $75. Similar cuts in all other tickets, including individual sessions.

OK, I have lost interest in the online vote gimmick.

But this slashing of ticket prices is bad news. They are afraid that the event will be a box office dud. :(

Well, it seems to totally accept my [email protected] e-mail.

Hey! That's my email. :)

Yes! Max is catching up!

VOTE FOR MAX! MAX FOR PRESIDENT! (er, wait, oops, wrong campaign.)

My new votes are in! Ashley, So Youn & Angelina; Max, Misha & Mikhail

From Mathman,

Well, the timing is weird, the voting is weird and it's been poorly advertised. Those are the key elements to failure. I'd love it if this works out but, I am not optimistic.

Well I'm okay with the new system (as long as my inbox isn't flooded with spam the next day).

The way the organizers took out invalid votes seems dubious even more.

The new system doesn't show anything at all on how many people and which country actually voted.

That's so typical of the ISU, lol.
Problem: automatic voting
solution: don't let fans see how many people from which countries voted, so if there's automatic voting, nobody will know ...

I know, it's like they're setting themselves up for a scandal. Hopefully, if this will be a learning year and they'll have it all figured out before they do this again.

Well so far I haven't been able to vote more than once per device per day.
Are people somehow getting around that?
I don't think this fan voting is a good idea. Too many ways for people to cheat. Even under the new surefire 'leave an email' high tech security system they have.

Haha, true. But I wasn't expecting any actual improvement :P

... is Park So Youn really the most decisive leader in her category? or Kuchvalska, or Alaine Chartrand?

..still a bit sensitive, are we? I'm not questioning the legitimacy of it. It's just surprising/disappointing/mildly amusing that of all the skaters in all the categories, Maxim Kovtun is the shoo-in.
