Waseda University news on Yuzu.
Shared by Echo Cheng @YHIFG FB --> Japan's new semester started in April 1, so he is scheduling to graduate next March.

This guy is a genius indeed! I mean how could you still can juggle between practice and manage to break world records while going on your 3rd year university. I have trouble just juggling between attending society meetings and university project! :drama:

So he said the starting order was the issue?he didn't like skating 2nd, same a Sochi, also he lost balance between his body and mental. He will find out how to deal with it in future...He doesn't have any idea about new LP , so Jazz will be as sp I assume? anyone please confirm it :)

"Hello everyone. This is Yuzuru Hanyu. Thank you for cheering me on again this season. This season I was able to make some world records and skate perfectly. I feel I was able to do this because you were all cheering me on. I am going to train very hard and do more difficult things technically and keep challenging myself. I hope you'll keep cheering me on!" - Translation by Ayako Nakamura @YHIFG FB

Seriously I am kind of fed up with "Hanyu's mentality is weak!"
Tell me he is weak when he has to skate after all of his rivals were clean, yet still got a WR.
I do think that he should have gone to 4CC to fuel up his competitive mind. But we should take into account that he couldn't. After national he had to skate in ice shows with painkillers, and he couldn't jump 4T for 7 weeks, how can he compete at 4CC in that situation? Go to 4CC with only 4S and a watered down layout and risk some worse injury even more?
I am fed up with people and their unrealistic expectation. He is human he has mistakes. He can't be clean all the time. Honestly, even though I am sad that he couldn't win this season, another part of me feels relieved that he didn't win. He shouldn't win when his emotional state was so unstable. A great champion should learn to control his mind in all circumstances. And this time he has learned that he can mess up badly when the mind isn't there.
He doesn't always win, this is a good lesson for him. By this way he will always be on alerted and never let his guard down. It's fortunate that it happened in Boston. Image if he won repeatedly and repeatedly competition after competition, his mind would become too relaxed at some point and it might be dangerous for the next Olympic.
Another thing, even the great champions didn't win always, this is not ice dance sorry guys. This is single and it's much harder to stay on your feet. On a good day it happens, on some bad day it doesn't. It's life.

I agree 100%

It's always so frustrating to be the victim and having people to doubt you because you can't find enough evidence... such is life!

There are more than enough evidences. But of course, when you're ignorant, you don't see them :rolleye:

I absolutely loved watching him skate live so I might try for SA or SC if he goes next season. I thought about trying to get a ticket to one of his ice shows since I'm heading to Japan at the end of this month but laughed at that thought since my chances of getting one was -0%

So glad many of you guys enjoyed watching Requiem, must have been quite the experience. :agree2:
Do you read Japanese and do you have friends or relatives who live in Japan? If you do you can think of using this site to get ticket.
https://ticketcamp.net/fantasy-on-ice-tickets/event-230241/
Yes this is a kind of auction site, but quite popular and safe. You can read the description yourself, but basically they charge to your card when you bid down the ticket, but the ticket camp corporation holds the money for you before giving it to the one who put the ticket to the site for sale. And as you receive the ticket you notify the office and they will forward the money to the seller. The price posted is the final price and it will not go higher than that. Me and my fiends used the system before and never had trouble. The system is the established one so not scam.
The price for the show in Makuhari is most expensive because it is close to Tokyo. The one in other cities are less. Depending on your travel plan , you can choose which venue to go.

But if you are saying you have no chance because the show only starts from the end of May, then I guess I cannot help you :scratch2:

Hey guys, sorry to be just throwing a random (but quite important) question here.

Now someone on a different forum has claimed that they've got the news from GS with some speculation on Yuzu's injury, and seemed to be directing the discussion on a more negative side. I have been having a hard time to catch up with this fast moving thread, so if someone can kindly direct me to where a discussion of this has taken place I would be much appreciated :)

We haven't had a lot of news on the Japan media and after a quick skim of the last few pages here and THE EDGE, I can't find anything that's devastatingly serious. I just want to make sure people from the other forum are not freaking out over nothing.

Thanks so much for your help :)

Several Japanese TV news programs reported that Yuzu had instep ligament injury. Those news are normally very trust-worthy. And today also in the CANNON interview, he said he has ligament damage. He talked about that is probably due to how he trains and also due to practicing Quad jumps in 2nd half of the program. He thinks when he does his quads in 1st half, he is properly using his mustle, but when he does them in 2nd half he is not able to use his mustle right and that is the cause of getting more impact on toe pick(when he jumps by hitting the ice with his toe) on his ligament.

The news as well as Yuzu himself do not talk about the severity of that damage, yet. Probably because he would not know that unless he get proper diagnosis in Tronto.
Too early to freak out, because we don't know anything yet.

In cannon interview he also talked about he would like to do more difficult things and he will figure out how to train without getting that kind of deep impact. He also talked about getting consistancy on the jumps. He thinks Javi is mush more stable than him and he thinks he is physically distorted, so he loses balance more easily. It does not mean he will just adds more mustle, but he thinks he needs to pay more attention to the movement of his mustle or how to use his mustle.

He will figure it out, he was quite optimistic in his veiw. Cannon interview is very informative. I am sure the full translation will come out soon.

Thanks Nontama0817 for your quick response! I agree it's too early to freak out and that's why I reached out for help here in hope to tame down unnecessary rumours.

So if I may clarify, there has not been any discussion on GS here which talks about Yuzu's injury is so serious that surgery might be required? This is what people on the other forum are freaking out about now. And I don't want GS to be dragged into this if this was never brought up here in the first place.

One of the news had the quote from sports orthopedic doctor said this type of ligament damage Yuzu said to have (sorry I forgot the specific name of ligament) can be treated by simple surgery and can be back in his peak shape in 6 months. That is why people are talking about it. But as been already discussed here in 10s of pages back, there are different treatment to it depending on the severity of the damage.
And note that doctor is not the one who checked Yuzu's condition personally, but rather giving general treatment for athele with this problem.

At least in Yuzu's interview, he did not sound serious or worried. The TV news and other reliable national papers reported he had the his problem after Nationals and stayed in Japan to get back in shape and went back to Canada. But as he started to train hard, the problem resurfaced and he had to change to Quad Sal combo.

Dasani, please check the media link post #315 under "NEWS, ARTICLES & TRANSLATION". Yuzu is in Toronto receiving treatment, we do not know the extent of injury but doesn't seem to require surgery.

Thanks alia. I love our media thread, it helps for us to trace back to important information so much eaiser :luv17:

Thanks Nontama0817, I read about this news quote from the doctor too, so as I suspect the source of that rumour is likely drawn from this general discussion on the potential treatments available. Once again thanks for providing a brief summary of the key points, there are so many information throwing around these days it's hard to keep track.

I also gathered from Yuzu's gala performance and his interviews that the situation is not as serious as some have feared, I will wait patiently for the official details. ^_^

----

I've enjoyed reading all the worlds report shared on here, thanks to all that were sharing their wonderful experience. This worlds has surely been a rollercoaster for all of us that have either witness in person or through tv/streaming.

I would really like to thank Yuzu for a wonderful memorable season, I believe you will come back stronger. Thank you Yuzu for your beautiful and soulful skate at the exhibition. Half way through the performance my eyes just welled up and tears started streaming down. There were many good and painful memories from this competition at the same time, but my heart is consoled after the gala skate. Now I'm ready to ride through another season of challenges with you!

GO Yuzu GO!!!

I think having more quad options especially other edge jumps like Quad sal and qual loop would save him because he does not need to depend on quad toe. Less injury prone.

Thank you, Japanese is not my forte but google is my best friend lol ;) I'm going for 3 weeks on vacation and I think I'll still be there when it starts. I'll check out the site and available tickets and see if I can test my luck :peace:

I saw the canon interview this morning and looks very interesting, hope someone translates a bit soon.
