Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

I was thinking about Patrick's comments about the ice since it's a fact that the ice was melting by the end of the men's competition. Patrick, Yuzuru and Shoma have arguably the best skating skills of the whole pack, all of them struggled, Shoma struggling a bit less if you exclude the horrid fall, being the 3rd in skating skills. Javier the one with not the best skating skills happened to skate the skate of his life under these conditions and Boyang also didn't skate that bad at all. I think this was certainly a factor in the performance of those three since their blade work is more refined or am I allucinating. Patrick was the only one to call out the ice conditions and received flack for it, I think it was a legitimate concern because it of course affected the skaters but in terms of his PR a bad move. I'm not attribuing their performance to the ice conditions bringing attention to the possibilty of it being a factor, who knows. Also, Chan and Hanyu probably have the biggest mutual jinx ever.

I'm still heartbroken for Yuzuru, but that's life and specially sports, it was an opportunity of a lifetime. Still nothing will take what he's done for figure skating this season and hopefully even more in the future, Yuzuru is a gift for the sport and I hope that he will continue to bring it to levels that have never been seen both artistically and athletically. His EX was breathtaking and very emotional as so many have said and I'm grateful for that.
I think there's absolutely no need for a 4Loop at the moment but Yuzuru is Yuzuru so I'll take it. I think he should've worked with a sports psycologist since the Olympics because he apparently has problems handling big pressure when he's at the lead in Worlds/Olys. I'm happy that he seems to be adressing the issue now and adjusting his training. I hope for no more peaking at the GPF but that he will continue to grace us with extraordinary and memorable performances.
As I saw someone saying if the GPF performances have been done in the Olympics we would be talking about for 20, 30, 50 years! They are already legendary though but it would be even more!

Good luck for the next season Yuzuru and hopefully your new programs will be as memorable and special as Chopin and Seimei. :cheer2:

It IS necessary. He should be the first one to land it in a competition. And he should hurry up, if not, someone else will do it.

1:15 at the extreme right ?

HAHA! Wow you're REALLY good!!! I actually didn't see myself until later in the video that you did :agree:. I have video of this as well. Probably won't upload it until next week though.

Shoma's planning to do it next season. So yeah, no more time to mess around.

Does this mean we "might" see again Seimei around next season?? as much as i want to see a new LP from him, i honestly also won't mind seeing it again next season :)

I remember not long time ago he said he would have two new programs, so I don't think he's going to use it again (not as a competitve program at least)

This is the poster of travel agency. FAOI official web site is still unchanged meaning Yuzu is not officially listed.
Having said that we know already he is planning to perform in ice shows in Japan this year and if that is the case he will be in FAOI.
Last year, same thing happened. Before the official announcement came out form the organizer in late April, P&G put up the comsumer campaign to get premium ticket in FAOI and that poster had Big Yuzu.
The organizer is usually quite late in announcing it officially. I think he is very likely to be in the show, but no confirmation yet.

As of now, 150 from China, 165 from Japan. I'm so surprised:shocked:so he really is most popular in China

well, I think the reason is that the poll is posted on weibo and Chinese fans somehow are more active in this survey ...

I was disappointed FOR Yuzuru that he did not skate Seimei his best at Worlds & did not win, but I am not at all disappointed IN Yuzuru. I was privileged to see him at 3 competitions this season, including the competitive premier of Seimei at Autumn Classic, the record-breaking GPF & Worlds - & all practices that fans were allowed to see (always sitting as close to the ice as possible - so close that I could see the sweat on his neck as he flew by during the last (t-shirt) practice at Worlds). He's magical, unearthly, but he's also endearingly human, with his open expressiveness & with the fact that he sometimes doesn't skate his best, as is the case with all skaters. I think he's smart, too, & learns from his experiences. So, just as he adjusted his SP after the problems at SC, I think he'll figure out how to avoid the problems he had at Boston, so he'll be better able to succeed at Helsinki & PyeongChang (& I hope Milan/Turin, too).
I think he can say goodbye to Ballade No. 1, having broken records with it twice & having a near-perfect performance of it at Worlds. Despite breaking 2 records with Seimei, I think he will want to bring it back in some form because he didn't give it the best Worlds performance. I'm actually glad about that because I love the Seimei program & hope he uses it in the Olympic year. This coming season, I'm looking forward to 2 different programs & I hope for jazz, rock, Latin &/or symphonic.

my feelings exactly. For so many fans at the arena and in front of the TV we knew how much he wanted it and how hard he worked to make the program perfect.
I was so sad to see his disappointment. But he's a tough person. Tougher than he looks at first glance and so, so strong. I believe that he'll keep wow-ing everyone with how far and how high he can go.

Well, there are possibly many more Chinese figure skating fans out there than in any other country save Japan, so that could explain it.

But I'm not that surprised in any case, the Chinese seem to have similar sense of esthetics to the Japanese if Boyang is anything to go by.

I couldn't agree more with both statements. I'm a big Team Orser fan and such showdowns tear me apart. I'm happy for Javi, but my heart broke for Yuzu, because he wanted it so much and he deserved it the most. Looking at the season that he's had, doing super-human things, he is the best male skater in the World! One night that goes pear shaped does not take that away, even if it is at Worlds. Come on, Yuzu, you'll thrill us again next season! :cheer2:
