I thought she had rather poor artistry, but her jumps were terrific! :eeking:
Of course year later she starts "controlling" them... :ohwell:

I think it's obvious that this was intentional, keeping an almost identical program from last season. Which I don't really see any shame in doing, as lots of people keep programs from one season to the next (i.e. Max's short, Ashley's free last year). My question would be why did she bother changing the music? El Choclo was way better, IMO, to skate to; it built to a really cool climactic end (I actually downloaded it and listen to it while driving). I hope she still sells it and has a great season, I do love Gracie!
 
I did not appreciate Gracie's SP this year but it is early. She does look more curvy or robust but maybe it was the dress - is this the same dress that mimics Christian Laboutin's shoes - just because you are a famous fashion designer does not mean you are great at skating outfits. So nice to see Caroline skating again and I wish her the best. Yay for the pearl spin. She as per usual needs better edges, speed and flow on her jumps - too bad about the double axel but interesting - early in the season - she looks like she is really trying. I always thought she could be a Mirai type so who knows - ice is slippery but assuming the first two spots are Ashley and Gracie's it is a dog's breakfast for no. 3 Polina, Mirai seem the early faves but who knows - Courtney, Vivian, Caroline, so many great choices USA is looking good. Yes, Japan and Russia have some great ladies (though in Russia other than Medeveda and that is in doubt if she went through a growth spurt they really are unstable but still remarkably competitive - just don't know who will be their world medal threat it could even go to Leonova (remember her???). Such aweird situation where world and olympic heroes Eliza, Julia and Adelina aren't really front runners. But the Americans have their own strong contingent. The only new wrench is Kostner - what will the judges do with her.

BTW, Vincent Zhou DOES have a 3a, but he doesn't hit it 100% of the time. He also has a 4S. He made it to the JGPF last year, his first year in the JGP ever, so he has to be considered a medal threat.

Megan Wessenberg....I have never heard of her, but I saw her programs in St. Gervais, right? And she should have medaled, imo....her jumps were better than even the russian ladies and Japanese.....I don't understand it.

I will take a look at Alexei Krasnozhon.....again, never heard of him, so thanks for mentioning him.

No, that was Alexia Paganini at St. Gervais. Megan skated in Ostrava, Czech Republic this weekend.

In my opinion, Ashley should be the US number 1, above Gracie. Gracie cannot interpret any piece of music thrown at her. At the same time, she is no worse than any of the current russian ladies in interpretation.

Yes that's right...she competed against the russian girl gubanova, whose jumps weren't as good as Wessenberg, yet she made it atop the podium....scratching my head.

oh my!! He is a DREAM....just what the US needs for men's field. I loved him interpretation of both sp and lp music. He has the complete package......jumps plus musicality....his triple axel is HUGE!!!, and too bad he didn't land that quad loop! I like him a lot!!! Thanks so much for bringing his name up :))
