Another sign she's not "ready".

Wow, Gracie's SP is extremely similar to last season's, though less pleasing to the eye due to the flailing arms. I do appreciate what they seem to be trying to do in terms of bringing more tension to her movement, but it's definitely not working yet. This sort of boggles my mind, it has to be intentionally similar, right?
Re: Wessenberg at Ostrava. Her jumps seemed totally out of control. If she pulled her technique together a bit more and harnessed the power she has, I think she could be a real threat. She's enjoyable to watch. But for now, we again have the U.S. entrant (3rd in junior nationals last year) outpaced by more than 35 points by a C-team Russian skater (Gubanova was 12th at Russian juniors last year). This Junior Grand Prix is not off to a good start for the U.S. women..
USA's jgp selections are so odd. I don't know what they are basing their decisions on? Wessenberg is 18 and still doesn't have a lutz. She has no business competing junior. The girl who is going to Japan this week scored 79 in the free at Golden West and didn't even win this club competition. Why send her? I've no idea if that's the best U.S. junior ladies can offer, but I can't help feeling there are better choices.
That Patrick Commentates video . . . . I have no words.
I wonder if Lori Nichol charged Gracie her full SP price for that "new" choreography?

.oh my!! He is a DREAM....just what the US needs for men's field. I loved him interpretation of both sp and lp music. He has the complete package......jumps plus musicality....his triple axel is HUGE!!!, and too bad he didn't land that quad loop! I like him a lot!!! Thanks so much for bringing his name up)
I see Ashley and Gracie as being equally inconsistent. It's more a fact of technical ability. On their best days Gracie is stronger technically.

Gabrielle Noullet is the name of "the girl who is going to Japan".
In that, I hope she thinks about this things that have gone right
- Overall speed is much better
- Double axel has much more speed
- Unique entrance into the double axel, I don't think I've ever seen a split jump into an axel
- Flip kick is so so so much better
- The lutz kick is still prominent but she's consistent with landing the jump
- She's going for the 3 loop 3 loop, I don't think anyone else is even trying this. Maybe Mao?
- Good carriage and posture
- Gorgeous dresses

I think it's obvious that this was intentional, keeping an almost identical program from last season. Which I don't really see any shame in doing, as lots of people keep programs from one season to the next (i.e. Max's short, Ashley's free last year). My question would be why did she bother changing the music? El Choclo was way better, IMO, to skate to; it built to a really cool climactic end (I actually downloaded it and listen to it while driving). I hope she still sells it and has a great season, I do love Gracie!
In my opinion, Ashley should be the US number 1, above Gracie. Gracie cannot interpret any piece of music thrown at her. At the same time, she is no worse than any of the current russian ladies in interpretation.
... Ashley on the other hand relies less on raw skating skills and more on acting out each emotion, she really gets into the performance with her facial expressions. It really is just a different way of skating.
