There's so much more to interpretation than face! It's much more about movement, IMO.
This is true and Gracie is also quite robotic in her movements.

She hasn't been that consistent. She was off the podium last year at Nationals and only made the World team because Karen Chen was too young. She hadn't done much on the Grand Prix either. Gracie skated probably the best skate of her life to beat Polina this year, stone face or not. Polina isn't exactly animated either.

She messed up on her short program though. They gave it to Gracie because in my opinion, she's more popular and judges gave her two chances.......she can mess up on the short, but if she delivers the long, bye bye Polina. But it's ok, everyone feels differently![]()
Gracie's PS scoring is a disgrace.
I read an article during last Olympics, where her father said something about how getting an education and going to college is important, and that skating isn't always going to be there or something like that.....he didn't sound that encouraging about the sport as long term for his daughter.
And to be fair, she's been the most consistent of the us ladies, yet they aren't regarding her. Losing nationals to stone faced Gracie was an excellent example. So maybe it discourages her a little, of course, I'm just speculating.

Gracie has no facial expression, but her choreography and execution of that choreography is excellent.
She lost to Gracie because she popped the jump at the end of her program while Gracie was perfecty clean.
Polina was clean(ish). It was Ashley who popped.
Polina underrotated a 3Lo.
I was saying that about Ashley. Polina was great but Gracie has the skate of her life, there was no doubt that she would take it aftet that.

Well, the numbers are what they are. Gracie has better skating skills and, if ranking performance/interpretation, would rank above Polina's GWTW. So I think she deserved her higher PCS. Was it too high? Maybe, but that is a flaw in the IJS, because comparing skaters is inevitable. Inflating PCS is just a new way for judges to rank skaters.
Polina does herself no favors on the ice by being noticeably slower on the ice then the top girls whether it's Ashley or Gracie or the top international skaters. Speed and power do matter.
Does anyone have videos of the junior ladies from the US Classic? I think all of the entries were from the US, but Starr Andrews, Kaitlyn Nguyen and Alexia Paganini were on the podium in that order. I saw a video of Starr at the Glacier Falls competition skating to the Pink Panther and she looked great. She’s now 15 (remember when she did “Whip my Hair” a few years ago?). I wonder when Starr will go senior, she’s sure to make a splash.

Starr and Kaitlyn both have Youtube channels, so if they have copies of their skates, they'll probably post them eventually.
Is this the US Classic or US International Classic, because I don't see Kaitlyn's name for the ladder. Maybe she is not old enough.
