Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

I actually love the costume: it is very Prince-like without being extreme Prince-like ^^(both men are rather 'small' in build and white fits them well). At the same time the bling on the vest is very Yuzu-like But I do agree that white on white is not that great. The white pants should simply be replaced by black ones and the patterns on the side should be purple to remind us of the colour of the vest (or something along these lines).

You can't replace the best part of the costume by making it black without ruining the whole picture. He will look like a waiter in the restaurant like that.

You know what? I want him to keep the costume unchanged. And we all will get used to it. Because it's fantastic. And when he skated in warmup other athletes looked like they haven't even tried to produce a real time costume. I salute Yuzu for this choice!

While it was not a priority, I'm very happy with Yuzu's landing a clean 4Lo. Congrats Yuzu! The program is clearly fun too, and since it's only the beginning of the season, we can easily bet it's gonna get better.

BUT... for the 1st time ever for me, it's a big NO on the costume. I mean, the top, I can work with that, eventually.
But the white pants... seriously no. It clashes so much with the ice, I don't see it working. I really hope they'll change it or modify it so that it won't clash so much.

Ok, i have to be completely honest:
I LOVED the way he performed the SP, but i felt like it lacked something. I actually like the white in the costume, i was in class and i screamed "HE'S WHITE!". He seemed to enjoy every second and that is what i really liked but still, something felt off. I hope it is just because it's his first competition of the season, don't take me wrong, i love this guy and it was really fun to watch but a part of me felt very empty after it finished.

I had the same feelings watching PW for the first time, he seemed a bit restrained on some parts; then, with more practice and confidence it became the program that half the world felt in love with at the Olympics. This is already much better for a first outing IMO, I think it will become a really great program! Go Yuzu! (I like this program so much, that I don't even mind his costume...)

Totally agree in all: Successful step is made into this season, very important for him to land this 4 Lo and that the 1 S was caused by a hole .
Costume: I dont see enough of Hanyu, the pants, he tries to get a crazy feeling to the public, he dances his lungs out but you dont see it properly,f.ex. the pose on his knees from above. Prince would have never chosen a white background with so much white in his costume, tell me I am wrong. But one thing: Coloured ice would be great !

hehehe. I have recovered a bit but yes It’s tooooo white that somehow bother me to enjoy his while performance to be honest and my first thought on that costume was that he’s wearing ski wear or ….what? :hpull:
I even saw the tweet that someone says, he looks like a bartender who is making some drinks for Brian (in the photo. btw tanks upnights for the updates ) but anyway, if I am allowed to wish something hopefully the color of his pants replaced by black or purple at least, as some people have said.

As for the performance, I might expected much from the SP as if he’s doing some crazy things in terms of choreography like PW’s へ lunge but in more wild and fierce way like Prince’s performance. but again, it was just a start of the season so I believe the more he gets confidence with his performance as season progresses the more it would get something special as well as usual. (I hope so )

I can only imagine the situation when Brian first saw the costume with Yuzuru coming out of dressing room smiling ear to ear and Brian goes "Oh white..."

The costume is nice actually I love it. but somehow it blended too well with the ice that sometimes his movement seems to disappear... what with him being so fast on the ice as well... now that could fulfill his superhuman side

All in all I think the program is full of potential Yuzuru could possibly deliver it well if he wasn't thrown off mood by the unfortunate mishaps with the hole during the 4S set up. Because he was so fast and upbeat during practice. It's very early in the season so I have hope to see the maximum potential this program could be!

not Brian's but he is Satoko's Butler for her Hernandez's Hideaway Ex thats seriously the 1st thing i thought when i saw the costume before seeing it was actually one of Prince's costume
its a shame about quad (the way he kicked the ice after performance ) but rest was very good, he needs time to get use to performing it but i really like it! and he got level4 for stsq with highest GOE!!

I agree that we don't see very well the movements he makes when he's skating. I mean, we do see him dancing, right, but that could be enhanced much more with darker pants or white pants with much more marks than the ones on the side of it. Hopefully he'll have reviews regarding the costumes and make changes. He wouldn't be the first skater to do so. I remember back in 2014-2015 season, Julia changed her FP dress because she got reports on how it clashes with the ice (and it was true).

He was not his usual speed but considering the way that combo threw him off, he made a good come-back. Gosh that hole in the ice was big, I hope there won't be such problem for the next FP events.
