Ashley Wagner

We're a little less than 2 weeks out of the Japan Open.. who's ready to see her new freeskate? I for one am totally freaking out but that's just me whenever Ashley is competing.. even if it's a small competition where she's just trying to get the program out there. Still, I'm SO excited to see this new program!! Does anyone have any predictions as to how she'll do this year??
I'm praying for
4th GPF medal
4th national title
2nd world medal

Congrats Ashley for a superb performance at Japan Open today!!! I love the new FS, especially the beginning was emotional, sensitiv, vulnerable - a totally new side we haven't seen in Ashley's programms this far. Go Ashley! I'm rooting for you at nationals and Worlds!

Agreed she looked pretty strong although I think both of her combos were UR, which is nitpicky this early on. I'm sure she and Raf will work on that. I'm not a big Muse fan but I enjoyed her interpretation and Shae-Lynn's choreo. She really has come a long way over the past few seasons, I remember when she debuted "Moulin Rouge" at the JO and it was pretty much a disaster. I will miss her Satine, but I'm sure I will grow to love this.

I really enjoyed Ashley's new FS. I'm not a huge fan of the story-telling programs, so this suited me just fine! I think at the beginning of the year, they're all working on their stamina, interpretation, etc. She and Shae-Lynne are a partnership made in heaven, and this program will only get better and better. So excited for Ashley. It will be fun to see what progress she has made with it by Skate America.

I really loved the program too  I think she really portrayed the emotion well and her movements are really soft and fluid throughout- very nicely constructed with a lot of detail already, I'm excited to see how it progresses!

I think this suits her personality really well. I like this one much more than her FS.

 her new sp! I think this year her programms are very versatile  and she excells in both of it. I think the LP also suits her personality. Ashley has proofed in interviews and alike a lot of times, that she's not just outgoing and an extrovert, but she has a deep side too. Her statements can be very thoughful and she knows how to portrait emotion, which is why I like her FP, too.

I'm sure she has a deep side too, but the Muse's music is strongly associated with Jeremy Abbott's version for me. I initially had a tough time to like a FD on the current junior circuit because of that, but eventually fell in love with another interpretation. I think Ashley's interpretation would take some time for me as well.

I loved both SP and LP for Ashley but I think the long is gorgeous for her and she looks better than ever. Can't wait for SA.

I am starting to admire her. Her attitude, her fighting spirit, her great personality and last but not least her unique programs that are always a joy to watch. You cannot take your eyes off of her when she skates. She is special. And there are only just a few "special skaters" to my mind.

Hey everyone! I just did a commentary video of Ashley's FS at Worlds and thought I'd post it here! I don't have really great equipment and I'm probably kinda boring, but if you watch let me know how you like it!!

Thank you skating butterfly. I too am obsessed with this performance. I watch it several times a week. It's on my youtube playlist (filled mostly with Ashley Wagner programs) which gets me through my 1 hour treadmill workouts. Time flies when this performance comes on. Glad to know I'm not alone in this obsession. The new LP is starting to get to me too!

This interview of Ashley in the USFS "We Get Up" series was really good, where she talks about her adorable fall after her SP at Worlds:

I thought it was so cute that she thought for a second, is that going to count as a fall in my program.

Ashley Wagner ignores her age and focuses on figure skating gold at 2018 Olympics

Another Ashley video from the site -- with a heartfelt answer about how much skating meant to her as she was growing up. Very touching. Made me cry :sad4:.
Did skating help you as a kid?

It's funny, because when I watched it live I was at the rink, and my coach was watching with me. When she nailed her last jump, my coach walked away to get her skates on. When she finished and then fell, I ran to my coach and said "she was so excited she fell on her butt when she finished!" And her very first response was, "she did that AFTER she finished RIGHT?" with a large sense of worry lol. So Ashley wasn't the only one.

Along with a few other people, happened to bump into Ashley Wagner after the practice sessions were over. She was talking to people and being really friendly, as always. We told her she looked really good out there, and she said "I'm trying!" I told her I liked her music, and she said she has to do her best with it since so many people associate Jeremy with it.

Ashley slayed it!!! :love::luv17::love::hap93::cheer:

Our girl ... she gets better and better! So fun, I absolutely love the program. She's in first place after the Skate America SP, with a four-point lead. Mai Mihara is in well-deserved second place.

Um ... can you tell I'm happy?

I'm so sad her practice outfit wasn't her real outfit for the SP, I really don't think the dress is a good fit for her, I'm really surprised at this dress because she was on such a good streak (Hip Hip Chin Chin, Moulin Rouge 2.0, Dangerous Woman, Exogenesis are all just fabulous and so flattering). Why Ashley?! You're so much hotter than that dress!

The costume designer Lisa McKinnon designed her Dangerous Woman, Exogenesis, and SP dresses. If you look at her instagram there are a lot of examples of her super blinged out dresses.
