Thanks! When you've got time, I'd be interested to see more of the FS (men and ladies) if you have them available?

Yeah... I've already put up the top 3 ladies (Anna, Satoko, Maria)... maybe I can put up a few more... Wakaba, Nathan, Keiji?

Sandra Bezic talks about Yuzuru: https://youtu.be/E5Fk2FrPifk?t=27m27s

What she likes about him is he has a sense of theatre, a casualness. But there is a final one between casual and sloppy. On a bad day it can get sloppy but on a good day you just stand back and say "Oh, my goodness..." He is compelling. You can't take your eyes off him. The SP has room to grow. FP is high-risk. Since it is lyrical/music-driven it has to be clean. He is experimenting.
This is the quad year. All the guys are mostly focused on getting the quads out there and next year they will go back to paying attention to more details.

I like his FP this season much more than past ones. Think he has improved a lot on presentation to match the technical stuff.

Sorry, if it is double post I cant catch up this thread.

Yuzu part HD video of NHK broadcast live. Someone said NHK uses several cameras and focuses yuzu and we can expect video. It’s true. Even he got matured in physically, his skin is beautiful as ever.

FS: opening, 6min warmup, interview (commentator, honda-san) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj-5Zn9PoWs (27min)
ES: swan (commentator, nobu) finale https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROPJmelIc_4 (15min)

I really really love this EX

Hanyu’s strength, style a sight to behold by Jack Gallagher

“I want it to be like a rock concert. Like a show for everybody to watch,” Hanyu stated in reference to his short program to Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.” “I want people to enjoy it. That is the goal.”

Once again Hanyu’s show in Sapporo blew away veteran skating analysts.

“What a performer!” said Eurosport’s Simon Reed after Hanyu’s short program. “He’s not just won the short with this, he’s won the free as well, and he’s got his place in Marseille. Just fantastic.”

NBC Universal analyst John Coughlin was impressed by Hanyu’s athletic ability and how he gets the most value out of his programs.

“He is such a great athlete . . . He is so great at maximizing his point total,” commented Coughlin after the short program. “No one else in the world hits these difficult elements with this kind of ease. He creates this illusion that the sport is much easier than it really is.”

Four-time world champion Kurt Browning, who commentates for CBC, called Hanyu “a wizard” and noted his tranquility on the ice during his free skate to “Hope and Legacy.”

“How could anybody with four planned quads in their program look so relaxed in their face and upper body?”

Browning then succinctly summarized what many at the highest level of the sport feel.

“He is so far ahead of the skating world in so many areas,” Browning said. “Everyone else is chasing him.”

Browning then broke down his analysis of Hanyu into specifics.

“Upper back, beautiful run of the edge, creating speed out of nowhere, musicality, awareness of the audience,” Browning stated. “But still I love how content and calm his face is.”

What must be pointed out is that generally when a skater elevates too high on a given jump, the landing can send them too deep into the ice, thereby complicating the next element. But Hanyu has always had such a feathery touch that even when he soars high into the air he is usually able to carry on without incident.

“He is so strong . . . it’s just such a winning combination, to have the subtlety, and the grace and elegance through the choreography, but the strength — the core strength — is very difficult,” Reed’s fellow Eurosport announcer pointed out.

NBC analyst Johnny Weir paid Hanyu one of the highest compliments, saying his fortitude in challenging new boundaries is what sets him apart.

“Yuzuru Hanyu has never been afraid of the bright lights or to make mistakes and that’s what has made his so great,” Weir commented. “He just goes on like a warrior every competition.”

Does any one know if there is a video of the medalists' press conference after the Men's free in its entirety on YT or DM? I've gotten curious what else Yuzu and Nathan said about each other's quads after watching that news clip linked in esopian's post upthread.

I looked up the protocols and watched some videos of Nathan from the 2014-2015 season on in order to better comprehend the context in which Yuzu said, all the way back in Aug. 2015, that Nathan would include [two] quads in the short. (He didn't explicitly say "two" in that video, but that's what I think he meant as he was talking about keeping up.) The only short program in the senior event category that Nathan had skated before that footage was 2015 Glacier Falls which took place end of July to beginning of August 2015. Prior to that event I believe the only events where he had attempted quads were 2015 US Nats FS, 2015 Jr. Worlds FS, and 2015 Broadmoor Open in June (he only skated the LP there.) I'm surprised how he was informed/aware back then of specific junior skaters that could potentially beat him on the technical side. I could be wrong but the female voice I hear in the background in that portion is Ms. Shirota and the strategist that she is, she might have been educating Yuzu whom he should be aware of in making decision to upgrade his jump arsenal in preparation for Pyeongchang. (That's just totally my guess. I don't read FS magazines so don't know what Ms. Shirota has been saying publicly.)

Guys! Looks like Yuzu went back to Canada. Javi was streaming live on instagram right now and Brian was there, and he was saying that he doesn't know when is Yuzu arriving to the rink but that it has to be sometime later, that they did go back to Canada after NHK... I thought he was going to stay in Japan :(?

Maybe this time Orser wants to have more control on what he is doing between events ;)

No quad lutzes, axels when no one is looking

Javi or Orser said so? OH!! I am suprised. So they knew Yuzuru would arrive the CC rink?

I think someone above already posted the link to this tumblr blog. But, this specific part really really makes me realizes once again why Yuzu is such an amazing athlete and why I idolize him so much. He says he loves the pressure. For him it's like standing on the edge of a cliff and goes "yoo hoo!" and he loves that feeling. I am an athlete myself and pressure is the worst enemy that always haunts you whenever wherever you are. Either you're doing good or bad, the pressure is always there. For him to be able to love it really makes him super professional. Just like how Johnny Weir praises him for his professionalism and commitment towards figure skating even after the OGM, I also appreciate how inspiring his mindset towards the sport is. I don't play the same sport as him, but I use some of his methods and most of the time it works!

"I love the pressure. I love standing on the edge of that cliff going "YOO-HOO." This sounds sarcastic :scratch2:

Javi said it. Someone asked him to show Yuzu on the video and he said something like "i think he isn't on the rink yet". And then later he said that he didn't know what time he would be arriving. He did show Brian though :D I kinda hope he doesn't show him :( because it will turn into a Yuzu fest there and it is Javi's instagram... Anyway, maybe a short hello like Brian's would be ok

Oh that is a first? I am surprised that he returns even with just a 1 week window between NHK and GPF. Since the official practice is on Wednesday and they have to arrive by Monday/Tuesday. I wonder if he will be in Canada before Japan Nationals too

OMG! This interview is pretty pretty wonderful. It’s the best of all interviews of NHK cup, I think. For me Matsuoka-san is the most suitable interviewer of yuzu. He is really good at drawing another side of yuzu and analyzing it. @ JuliettaG and @ b138oo posted the tumbler of this interview. Still I cant catch up all the information of NHK cup! This week, I want to settle them little by little (please await for a while with Dai’s comments.)

Thank you so much hamaguri! Always appreciate your kind help :thank:
I like Matsuoka-san too! Yuzu seems to be more rellax around him (and a couple others like Nobu or Akiko-san) :)

Or maybe Javi doesn't know if Yuzuru is in Toronto or not? or he clearly said "he is not here yet but he has to be some time later" like you said in first post? I wonder  Sorry for digging but I am very surprised.
