Jia Shin reveals new programs for the 2026–27 season

In a recent interview with Golden Skate, Shin discussed choosing the music, working with Shae-Lynn Bourne for the first time, reuniting with Jeffrey Buttle, and adapting to the ISU's new rules, including the Choreo Spin.

What are your first impressions of Jia's new programs?

Some fun summer discussion questions: ☀️⛱️:)
  • Which program are you most looking forward to seeing—the short program or the free skate?
  • What do you think of her music selections?
  • How do you think working with Shae-Lynn Bourne will influence her skating?
  • What are your expectations for Jia this season at Skate Canada and NHK Trophy?
  • Where do you see her fitting into this season's women's field?

One of my absolute favorite skaters, I wish her the best this season. If she gets her nerves under command, in this season's field I see her winning or getting 2nd at both gps, and going to the GP final. there's very few that would get higher PCS than her and her triple triple is world class. I listened to both pieces of music and I am more excited for the fs to 'in the mood for love', excited to see how she does with it this season.

I like "In the mood of love" choice. That's a bit new direction, the music is very sensual so it's a great opportunity to show a bit more mature version of herself. For the short, the music choice is not much inspiring to me, there's plenty of Max Richter programs. But I'm sure it will be beautiful.

“I frequently watch Yuna Kim’s performances, and I also often watch skaters like Yuzuru Hanyu and Yuma Kagiyama.” - great taste :)

ETA: Oh, Jun's choreo for the ex! I'm looking forward to see it. (Oh no, I checked the song, not my cup of tea).

This is an ideal summer interview that provides information about everything related to the upcoming season.
Great job, Goldenskate! :cheer:
I'm looking forward to more interviews of this kind ;)

For me, Jia Shin has not been the most interesting skater to watch thus far. It may easily change though if she follows the path that she mentioned, highlighting the character in music.

And of course, I'm looking forward the premiere of her choreo spin

Well ... they are good choices but .... In the mood for love is a very demanding music ( I think maybe few could do a great job with that music) ... the soundtrack leftovers to be honest there is kosto for that and nobody else ...
