2016-17 Russian Qualifiers and other events

5th stage of Russian Cup

Pairs: Chuzhanova/Mintsev. No Kudryavtseva/Zakroev which is no surprise since people are saying they have split up.

That's sad! They shouldn't have split up Kudriavtseva from her previous partner. I liked them together. Maybe he is still free and take her back?

Zakroev seems to have trouble finding a partner. Was Kudriavtseva his second attempt after Vygalova, or third one? Is Gainedtinova still available? She is a pair skater so Zakroev wouldn't have to wait two years like he has to with Kudriavtseva. She is also a pair skater so it wouldn't ne starting from zero. I don't remember how her jumps were, but they were definitely better than Vygalova's jumps.

Beklemysheva is still on icepartnersearch. (Fedorova too, but I can't imagine her skating under Pavlova, considering her jumps problems. )

He is not. Lina's former partner is (with his new partner of course) at the entry list I just posted. Besides people are saying that Lina already has a new partner.

Who will be coaching Lina and her new partner? Will she stay with Pavlova, or return to her previous coach? (That could be quite awkward if there is her previous partner.)

I don't know about their coach since I can't recall if the rumors said aynything about that.

What is up with TheFSRussia-channel?? Still not one video from yesterday. Their slowness is getting irritating.

Not part of the official competition. Most likely because they have skated at two Russian cup events already.

I thought you claimed that they are all allowed to do three events. I was saying that they can do two, and you were saying three. In the past a few skaters did three but the third event was not counted, so for qualifying they can do only two.

Didn't come up any other explanation why their programs wouldn't count for anything but I kind of doubt this would be the reason either because for example Zhuk/Britkov have also skated two Russian cup events already, and yet their programs seem to be official part of the event unlike Popova/Mozgov. Every year there have been skaters/teams who have took part more than two events. Every now and then I recall seeing that some of the skaters/team results have been deleted later but I am not really sure why this has happened. Not really sure why it happened now either. Every year there have also been junior skaters/teams who have skated more than two events but can't recall seeing that their results would have been deleted later. Now there are numerous pairs who are skating their 3rd event and their results seems to be part of the official event also.

Damn, it is been 10 hours and not a single new video has been uploaded. I already miss the time when they uploaded videos right after each skater had ended his program.

As far as I am aware, the third event doesn't count for qualification.
Last year the same for Shevchenko-Bich, the third event didn't count http://www.fskate.ru/info/rusnat/2016/sel_pairs/

In fact, if you look at previous years, it is only exception when someone does three events. Everyone does only two, so I think three events are not allowed unless in some exceptional circumstances, orherwise everyone would be doing three.

In juniors some pairs last year did three, but they qualified already, so it was just for getting competitive experience rather than for qualifying. I think in pairs the rules are more lax because threre was not so many pairs, especially senior pairs. Pairs is the only discipline where the skaters are allowed to do both junior Russian cup events and senior Russian cups within one season. In ladies, for example, they have to choose if they want to do Junior or senior Russian cup events. In pairs, you can do both.

Zhuk/Britkov did only two events. Two junior and two senior. There were three junior pairs that did three events, but two of those were already qualified by having JGP event, so they definitely didn't do it for qualification, and the third one is somewhere near the bottom of the qualification table, so I think it was more abour practising competing rather than hoping that they may get to the nationals (with seventh and seventh place, they didn't have a chance of getting to the nationals anyway).

No lady or man (junior or senior) did three events, no senior pairs this year... I think it is safe to say that they are allowed only two events.

I wonder why the coaches didn't pair up Panfilova with Kuznetsov. They skate in the same group, Panfilova suddenly became partnerless when her partner was paired with Poluyanova, and Kuznetsov's partner went to Pavlova's group to skate with Zakroev. It would make sense to pair Panfilova with Kuznetsov rather than give each of them a pair beginner as a partner.

Any news what happened with Foka/Domnin? Are they injured or did they split up? They originally got a JGP event, so they must have looked quite reasonable at the test skates, but then they withdrew from the event (or the event was taken from them) and then they haven't competed the whole season.

It is Sunday. Could it be that the person who downloads it has a day off?

Zhuk/Britkov will, like I have already said earlier.

But you don't know if it will count towards Z/B's qualification. They may have been asked to skate ther because otherwise the senior event would have there only two pairs, which would be quite easy for those pairs towards their qualification.
