2016-17 Splits & Partner Changes

Thi is so weird... But good he hasn't dithed her for JWC, at least she can make name for herself. Will be easier for her to find a new partner.

Some interesting news! https://www.facebook.com/MagyarOrsz...550939258538/1538014449545512/?type=3&theater
So we have two new partnerships skating for Hungary, Ice Dance team Anna Yanovskaya/Adam Lukacs and Pairs team Daria Beklemishcheva/Mark Magyar (I love surnames that are basically your nationality  ). Both teams are going to compete at Bavarian Open in Februrary, so if they reach TES minimums they can compete at Worlds!

How good is Yanovskaya's partner? I think it was a good for her to switch country

Really good to see both Anna and Adam back. I hope they do really well together.

Does anybody know if Carolina Moscheni has found a new partner yet?

Pairs team Daria Beklemishcheva/Mark Magyar

Mmmm. Daria's profile is still listed on IPS...

Have to be honest, her name didn't ring any bells. But, I looked her up, and she had a good record with Maxim Bobrov in the 2014 Junior GP Series (4[SUP]th[/SUP] in Pokal der Blauen Schwerter, 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] in Croatia Cup, 4[SUP]th[/SUP] in Junior GP Final). So she must be good.

I wish them all the best.

Mark Magyar (I love surnames that are basically your nationality  ).

So do I! Basque motorbike racer Efren Vazquez and English motorbike racer Graham English (and his brother, sidecar passenger Steve) are examples that always come straight to my mind.

And let's not forget Czech ice dancer Michal Češka. ;)

But then you get complications like Northern Irish motorbike racer Robert English, or Southern Irish motorbike racing journalist Steve English (yes, two guys named "Steve English" involved in the same sport :drama: ). Or Australian actress Laura Vazquez.

I am guessing that these people had ancestors who were of that nationality, and that their surname originated as an adjective. Just like the occupational surnames Baker, Butcher, Cooper, Falconer, Fletcher, etc.

Re Mishina/Mirzoev: wouldn't there be some sort of statement by the RusFed? I sort of don't want to believe this until there is something tad more official ...

It depends whether they have informed the federation officially. They are on senior reserve team, so it could have financial implications to inform their federation too early. If they are planning to do the junior worlds, they may want to officially inform the federation only afterwards. But there would be no point making a profile on Russian version of icepartnersearch if he didn't intend to change partners, so I guess it will happen.

To be honest, really not surprised. Even as an outsider, one can easily just see the strained relationship between the two from Nationals. Good on them for not pulling a Vartmann/Blommaert.

I felt like he in particular was not very connected with her--sorry not sure if that makes any sense. A shame though because they certainly are doing well. I wonder what prompted the split. I wish them both luck.

Something was wrong already in offseason. Here's a part from their coach Ludmila Velikova's inteview:
How Anastasia and Vlaislav worked after last year’s success?

L.V.: They worked hard. And above all, due to the fact that Anastasia is going through a difficult period in the life of every girl. She’s 15 years old, and that’s it. At this age, many athletes gain weight even from the air, from one type of food. She has to fight with extra weight, but it’s difficult. Nastia is very thin, holding herself. But any normal person is angry, when he’s hungry, so Nastia is often irritable. Vlad in this situation doesn’t feel the best way. He’s very well-mannered, but sometimes it’s not easy to restrain. It’s hard for Anastasia too. Sometimes when something doesn’t work, she reacts violently to comments, offended over nothing, complains why she’s criticized.
and:
They have different characters, and youth, when you don’t have enough life experience to adjust to each other. But as Maxim Trankov says “We must be able to endure.” He went through it all with Masha Mukhortova.

Comparison with Mukhortova / Trankov isn't very optimistic sign. Also she's young and she's still growing, she is not a small girl. He's already 20 or 21, so he won't grow up more and he's not a tall guy. So, maybe there can be some issues too.
That's why I don't really follow junior pairs, they split up so quickly.

How bad could it have been to result in a split?? I don't get it :-s. I think teens nowadays are spoiled and not prepared to give everything for their goals.
I just hope Anastasia will find a good and strong partner. I always thought she is the better part from MM.

How bad? That's a weird thing to say. Spending with someone eight hours a day, day after day, for several years, you may find out that the person start seriously getting on your nerves. At when the person who gets on your nerves is constantly next to you, constantly having physical contact with you (which is a part of pair skating), all your negative feelings can get much stronger. He makes a mistakes and you can't help yourself feeling resentful towards him because you have to repeat it again and again until the coach is happy. Or you make a mistake and the partner may make some remark that you consider insensitive, and you feel even worse that because of you you both have to repeat it again and again. It is quite important that skating partner is supportive. When the relationship doesn't work, it is unlikely that the partners would be supportive towards each other. The negative feelings prevent them to be supportive to each other, which in turn affects the skating.

And imagine that you are supposed to trust that person with your life. That person is lifting you some 2-2.5 metres above the floor, and sometimes in positions where you are hanging with head down. I wouldn't want to do this with a partner I can't stand. How can you trust him? If you add that both of them are still kids, so they are possibly not fully mature, so their arguments may be like two teenagers rather than two adults...

I think it's a very rare situation to find a partner that is an excellent skater, emotionally stable and with whom you are compatible, so the skaters should make some compromises if they want to medal, in this case I refer to Mirzoev, as he is older than her and I suppose wiser :scratch2: (he is 20 years!!). And maybe she is just passing through a temporary bad period of time, as all teens. I cannot imagine that all pairs and ice dancers had always excellent relationships but the motivation to win was stronger. Anyway, I hope Mishina will find another partner and maybe a change of coach will be for the best. She is fighter according to their coach.

I don't think that if someone is twenty, it must necessarily mean that he is fully mature. That's huge assumptions you are making. I would agree with 'just bear it' attitude if they were already senior world medallists, among the top skaters in their field, and had a chance to get more medals at worlds and gold at Olympics. Then it may be reason for 'enduring' it. However, no matter how promising they look, they are both at the beginning of their careers. Not many pairs survives the transfers from juniors to seniors anyway. They skate for Russia and that means that at least for the next 4-5 years they wouldn't have a chance to even get to Europeans/worlds, because there are Russian pairs who are much better than them. I can't see them catching up Stolkova/Klimov and Tarasova/Morozov any time soon. So looking at it from this perspective, we are talking about enduring for at least five years before they even get somewhere in seniors. Would you want to be enduring for such a long time? Easy for you to say what they should do, when it is not you living it day after day. Taking into consideration that they are in earlier stages of their careers, it doesn't really matter if they split up. They will have plenty of time and opportunities to find a new partner. Their partner may not be as good skater as their current partner, that's the risk they are willing to take, and it is their career. I am sure they are old enough to make that decision.

Mirzoev is the one who would have a hard time after the split. Just look at Zakroev and Miroshkin's career, even Deputat's. And Mishina has triples whereas their ex-partners didn't. M/M reminds me of young Tarasova/Morozov, except that they don't like each other.
