What are you listening to right now?

My goodness! Just a day after Carrie Fisher died, her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, had a stroke and died too.

What a horrible time for that family!

In tribute to Debbie, here she is singing in probably her most famous scene (from "Singing In The Rain"):

Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds - "Good Morning"

Has anybody ever skated to this song?

Incidentally, when paying tribute to the Alexandrov Ensemble, I mentioned my favourite radio presenter, Gerry Anderson. Ever since Gerry took ill a couple of years before his death, his sidekick, Sean Coyle, has been presenting the show. And Sean uses a couple of lines from "Good Morning" to start the show.

Anyway, my thoughts go out to all of Debbie and Carrie's family and friends at this time of double tragedy.

I just heard it :sad21: I have never realized that the actress from Singing in the Rain was Carrie's mother!

And, yes, there is skater who skated to that music. Our lovely Kitty's FP this season is to songs from Singing in the Rain :) Here her FP from JGP Yokohama: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKusVW2sdw4

To be fair, neither did I. I knew Debbie was a famous actress, but I didn't know what all she was in. So I got the same surprise when I looked up her filmography.

I suppose it was because I am used to seeing Debbie as an older woman that I didn't recognise her as being Kathy from "Singing In The Rain".

What I found hard to believe was that Debbie and Carrie were both teenagers when they were playing their most famous roles!

Aha! Thank you!

It just shows how much of the Junior GP Series I missed that I didn't realise Alisa was using "Good Morning", albeit in a medley. :disapp:

But, if all goes to plan, I am going to watch the Ladies FS from Russian Nationals tomorrow morning.

The Rogue One OST.

Particularly these two:

Heartbreakingly beautiful - that motif at 1:08 in the first piece and 3:19 in the second piece just gets me every time. *Tries not to cry bc movie messed me up and score brings back the feels*

Also, still don't know how to do that thing where you make a word link to the URL. And also-also, I totally did not do an edit of Elena Radionova skating to these pieces, because I totally do not have a problem. :slink:

Grateful Dead : Unbroken Chain

My parents are a little bit hippy in nature and as such I grew up with a lot of interesting music in my life. This song s incredibly complex but as is the nature of the dead...very organic. This to my knowledge isn't one of there more well known songs but it's always been one of my favorites.

I just love the song and it came up on random.

The Wreckers : Crazy People

Whenever people say crossover or pop country is terrible I always tell them to check out the Wreckers. I love these girls and will always have a soft spot for them and this song has a funny vibe to it while still showcasing their ability. Maybe I just have too many memories attached to the time this music came out.

I think this is one of the most well thought out songs and I love the jaded girl power edge. I love the way they are challenging common conceptions of how women are viewed and harmonizing so well. It just gives me the feels.
