2017 Worlds on-site reports

Both italian teams looked really energetic and determined, esp Luca was ON. BobSol looking good too, StepBukin was no show.

hi, thanks a lot for that report, I hope for slaying outing from Charlene and Marco after that horrible fall at Euros!

Dance practice was great fun to watch- all the teams had their game on. Exciting.

I don't know what to say about Rika :hopelessness:

Is Rika battling an injury? She's struggling so much.

The Chinese looking really strong, esp SuiHan.

JamesCipres skating and jumping really strong too, although falls on 4s attempts.

It was great to see Sui land the sbs triple Salchow at least twice, no problem. And the throws were really strong. I was happy to watch Aljona and Bruno doing their lovely FP. She was wearing black today. I even saw Bruno off the ice, no Aljona there.
About the ice dance couples, Papadakis /Cizeron looked confident and strong. I wonder why Tobias / Tkachenko didn't skate. There were only 3 Canadian couples in that group. Anna and Luca were delightful to watch. They seemed to have fun together all the time. Back there tomorrow morning.

I think we heard a while ago that she has a bone bruise which apparently is very painful and takes a long time to heal.

ETA - I just double checked. She has had this problem since last summer, and it is with one of her ankles.

Thanks for the info. Didn't Polina Edmunds also have a bone bruise which kept her out all season? I wonder why Rika didn't take time off to heal herself. I hope she isn't making things worse by competing.

Same ailment. Not sure if Polina's was an ankle, but apparently bone bruises are nasty. I wonder if Rika was afraid to rest in light of all the new, upcoming talent she realized she is competing against. She just has kind of a dejected look, and I feel so bad for her. Her experience at the international level counts for something! Hope she can rest a little in the off season and maybe get some physical therapy, if that might help.

Evgenia is on. :eeking:
@rockerskating
Practice notes: Medvedeva 3Lo3T, 2A, 3F3T, 3Lz3Lo (well that's new!);
Practice notes: Medvedeva 3F3T3Lo, 3Lz3T3Lo, 3S1/2Lo3F - like what is this tech??
Practice notes: Evgenia Medvedeva SP runthru (3F3T, 3Lo3T, 2A);
Practice notes: Medvedeva and Tursynbaeva do dueling 3S3T3T; Tursynbaeva 2S, 4S(<<,fall), 2S
Practice notes: Medvedeva: 3Lz3T3Lo, 3S1/2Lo3F3T, 3Lz3Lo;

:bow:

Update: Seriously, if they can do quads....well actually if either if them can do them completely in practice.

But Evgenia proves that she can do so many different triple combos. Such a shame that she's limited. If she's able to do harder jumps though....well.........

Since Rika has been dealing with injuries for the whole year, I'm shocked that JSF is sending her. The arrogance JSF displayed here is unbelievable. They really believe that they need no backup at all. Their original team is their final team, the alternates are picked from a hat.
This will not bode well next year. JSF will have 2 spots and play god to a bunch of talented girls.

It's a plot.

They're deliberately losing a third spot so the Japanese women have to be SUPER competitive next year to make the Olympic team.

No slacking!

Practice notes: Wakaba Higuchi working 3A in practice - legit! 3A(<<,2ft), 3A(ur?fall), 3A(fall) it's pretty legit. Not ready for prime time yet. But technique is strong.

Who pays attention to JW's predictions anyways, he has gotten it so wrong this season, Better to have the NFL Super Bowl Ape, than his crystal ball.
