So let's hope they don't. These two have been really pushed this year - not gonna comment if unfairly or not - so they have to pay back with good performances.
In a way, I think the Fed actually have higher hopes for them than most seniors.

8th and 10th. Weren't you the one saying both Russian teams would be out of the top 10? :sarcasm:

Although you also said V/M would lose because they hadn't been to Worlds in 3 years. And they just got a personal best/new World record score.

Any more predictions?

Just a little off. Highest is 8th! Lots were Saying b/S could be top 6.

They're predictions. Not statements of fact.

I know. But saying V/M would be behind P/C and the Shibs... that quite the.. bold... prediction. As was saying the Russian teams would be out of the top 10.

Not saying it's what you did, sometimes we conflate what we want to happen with what's likely to happen.

You might have said V/M wouldn't win Worlds because it's what you might have wanted (they're Canadian, after all), but I doubt you would have bet money on it if you'd seen the trajectory of their progress throughout the season, not to mention they're veterans and know how to deal with pressure.

I said v/m would be second behind shubutani's. P/c third. The main thing was a belief that shibutanis are inevitable world champions. They got level 2 step sequence here! That's a huge enormous shocker of epic proportions that nothing this season indicated was possible. What I want is total restoring of Russian talent! Anything else is just conjectures

I’m very upset about what is happening now, it seems that only two Russian duos will go to the Olympics. We are not losing the World championship now, but the number of pairs that will go to the Olympics. And this is very sad.

It’s not just sad, everything is very sad in our ice dance. But I want to tune in to positive – still tomorrow is a free dance, the guys have to fight. There are small gaps, what if suddenly a miracle will happen? Let us, like small children, believe in miracles. I believe that we should look positively on everything.

According to the agency's interlocutor, Bobrova and Soloviev were fairly evaluated for their performance in a short program. "Do you think that Bobrov and Soloviev deserve higher marks?" I do not think so, I think they got their marks, "the Olympic champion said.

But Stepanova and Bukin, according to Bestemyanova, deserved higher marks both at the European Championships and in Helsinki. "We only have one pair, no one is doing the following, although now they probably started to do it, because, thank God, today they won against the Israelis and Italians who lost at the European Championships," believes Bestemyanova.

The maximum Olympic quota is questionable

After the performance, Bobrov and Soloviev were second, but soon they were overtaken by one duet after another. Nobody managed to bypass the Russians for a serious number of points, but every fall in the occupied place meant that you can forget about the start in the strongest group. Attack the same pedestal from the penultimate group of participants will be difficult. As a result, six-time champions of Russia were only eighth after a short program, and Stepanova and Bukin - the tenth.

Figure skaters Bobrova / Soloviev said that FFKKR should defend their position at the World Cup >>>

Evaluating the result of the short dance, the experts differed in opinions. "I absolutely do not intend to argue with the judges, they put what they see," said the Honored Coach of the USSR and Russia Tatyana Tarasova, answering the question whether she agrees with the points of the Russian duets. "It's not just one person who put it, but the whole team. There are people who are ahead of us in development, that's all, and in the world of these people already a lot. " A two-time champion of the USSR, now coach Rostislav Sinitsyn noticed that, in his opinion, the place of Russian duets is higher. "Perhaps in the top three of Bobrov and Solovyov should not have entered, but that their place next to the troika - exactly," - he said.

After a short dance, the prospects for winning three quotas for the Russian Olympic Games for the Russian national ice dancing team were a big question. To get the maximum quota, two Russian couples need to get no more than 13 seats in total. And this means that in an arbitrary program they will have to try to make a small miracle.

If Stepanova is my skater of course I would need a miracle . Im sure she would want time machine next time to fix Stepanova from early ages. Would be more helpful.

I'm surprised they are being so hopeful! Not ready to go nuclear yet.

No one could have predicted the incredible gifts the Americans gave bobrova And soloviev! All of them! Now they can say there are no problems just a bad short dance prevented Russia from having 3 spots.

But what is Bestemianova going to say, then? B/S still got to the top5, but S/B were still dead last at 10th. And it's not like I/Z and S/K need to fight another time for a spot, right? That's getting old fast.

She's going to say points that should have gone to S/b were held for b/S! That's her thing. If not for "horrible" b/S who have all the support S/b are brilliant but oppressed!

Meanwhile Zhulin is saying no one is allowed to like russians anymore because of sanctions!

Overall, this was a good competition for Stepanova and Bukin. They earned a FD PB score and did Mother Russia proud, considering how terrible Russian Ice Dance is today...BUT Bobrova and Soloviev... Oh, Bobrova and Soloviev. What a competition for them. To say lots of politicking happened is an understatement. I mean 3rd at the FD? Are you serious?! If those were honest scores for them, I would strongly recommend prescription glasses for the judges... And to top it all off, Russia has officially earned 2 Olympic spots in Ice Dance. Two Olympic spots. If someone would have said that 20 years ago, everyone would be laughing, thinking it's impossible, but guess what? It's actually happening!

B/S did so bad in short dance that maybe the judges went easy on them because they never believed there'd be so many huge errors from Americans that theyd actually come close to medaling. Judges did not really do anything FOR them. Why wouldn't they have been generous in short dance too?

2002 messes everything up because no country was allowed more than 2 ice dance teams so you have to say Russia didn't get all slots possible.

Well:
1- Stepanova and Bukin barely made the FD PB, and were 3 points lower in the SD to their SB. With all the politicking that they've done inside of Russia, they still have a lot of ways to go with their scores, but at least they are paving their way towards the next cycle, which none of the other senior teams is doing.
2- Bobrova and Soloviev competed like they have most of the season, not much better, not much worse, and were scored particularly the same way. A bit worse than COR, a bit better than the GPF, a bit worse than at Euros. If there was zero push yesterday when they finished as low as eight, and now they are third, how about that? Did Mother Russia had the time to actually go around to bribe all the judges to help them? If anything, the three americans helped more than anything, with low quality outings. And as for W/P, this was an SB for them, and C/L, oh, what can I say, poetic justice or something after Euros?
3 - Russia doesn't need three spots. Two spots is actually more than enough. Maybe next season it will lit a fire under some butts and they'll work more, otherwise S/B and B/S will have their work cut out for them.

Stepanova cannot skate...did you look at her legs during the steps? When she'll be able to glide, let's have a talk about how great they are. Till then...just enjoy Brobova/Soloviev :).

With the quality of Russian ice dance right now, they really don't deserve three spots. Having said that, I think that it's not yet 100% locked in that B/S and S/B are the two teams that are going to the Olympics. One of the partner switch disaster teams might have the right programs and break out next season. Hopefully not S/K. Anybody but S/K.

The main thing that hurts S/B is two years at 10th. They didn't go anywhere. What helps them is that unless some amazing performances on GP S/K and I/Z were so far below them they almost don't even count any more. I/Z got national championship over S/B but something happened with them. To lose to S/k is unspeakably bad.

B/S can be named to named to the Olympic team right now.

Giller/Poirirer spend all olympic cycle in 8th place. You need some quality to make top. Same is happening to Stepwnova/Bukin as well. They need to work on skating skills or their career might not be different than Kerrs. Good programs, love of fans never saved Kerrs, will not save G/P or S/B. Everytime somebody retired peoples said it is their time, but another team who have better skating skills passed them.
