Anna Pogorilaya

I just only now realised that Anna's FS is choreographed by Morozov. :shocked:I had to mention that because it came as a shock to me, because lately his programs have been ones I have disliked strongly, especially stemming from his obsession with the use of Romeo and Juliet music (as evidenced with Martinez and Denis Ten).

Can't believe the person who created the aforementioned two programs ended up choreographing a masterpiece of a program for Anna. I'm starting to see him as the M. Night Shamalan of Choreography. :p

He also choreographed her awesome Bolero Short last year....so genius and craziness...close together?

I hope Anna can heal her wounds, in her body and her soul in the off-season and relax. I know it's all about working towards the next season, as soon as this one is over, but I really want her to take a break. I thought about what others mentioned about her being so shocked that she was in fourth that she messed up, but wasn't she fourth at GPF? Or Russian Nationals? She was in that situation before. Her scores were a bit low, right. I'm not even sure if Anna had won a medal with a clean performance...Maybe she would've beaten Gabrielle, but barely. It's been in the stars all season that they wanted Kaetlyn on the podium. Maybe she felt that somewhere in her mind. I hope to see her at the Olympics. But if it's not to be then it doesn't mean her career is over. She still has chances. And I still think she is superior to both Kaetlyn and Gabrielle. It shouldn't have been at this Worlds. I will never rewatch that again, even though I loved how the crowd supported her. That was the only redeeming thing about it. I hope she felt the love. If someone who understands Russian is around could you translate what she says on her Instagram? Or maybe some interview she gave? I would like to know what she said.

about Morozov, he's either a genius or a splat in term of choreography...And somehow I feel like he's successful in this department only with selected skaters - example is his work with Anna, 'Swan Lake' FD for Elena/Nikita (it was not the most detailed/difficult choreo, but boy - it was IMPACTFUL, fully channelling all the drama), works with Daisuke Takahashi, Gruschina/Goncharov ODs, Florent Amodio's crazy entertaining programs.

and for Anna...I cried for a good while after the whole FS finished, fate could not have been anymore cruel it seems, after such great season, so well built up. It was like something just left out of her after those first pop and she could not get herself together until the end. I do wonder now if she just got too much inside her head in terms of pressure imposed on herself, or maybe she was just discouraged after SP scores and let her concentration slip away? Anyway it was heart-breaking to see her like that, totally disarmed on her knees on ice. But apart from this, what consoled me was audience's reaction, like a warm blanket over Anna, and Tsareva's/Adorniev's reactions too, especially his.

My only hope is that Anna won't be put on a sideway by federation just based on that one program, because I have no doubt - not after the fight she put at Europeans in FS, not after her Phoenix rise since last Worlds - that she will work her **s off to get back her confidence and high level. She needs all kinds of encouragement right now, especially reminders of her whole season and last Worlds. She needs to know and remember about how good she is instead of that Friday.

Speaking of federation...will Anna be chosen for WTT, given her recent result at Worlds? Or she will be replaced by Masha or Lena?

:sad21: Indeed. But I actually really want her to have a break now. And I bet Elena is just burning to do this and have fun.

I would have much rather seen Anna, especially since she hasn't had the opportunity to go before. But I'm sure she could use some rest.

Anna looks absolutely stunning in the black banquet dress. Her fashion sense is getting much better!

We need to talk about Anna. Her FS was my favorite this year, but not this performance. It's still a bit shocking to see it.

Does anyone have any insight? Has she given a statement? Was she injured and hiding it, perhaps something else in her life was bothering her which didn't allow her to concentrate? Not trying to pry or gossip, but that meltdown was out of character since she's been so good for so long (I'm going to pretend NHK 2015 didn't happen).

I think she'll come back hard and strong next year. If she doesn't make the team event (they'll give Zhenya a slot of course), then she may be on fire for the free and win OGM like Adelina did.

Still your fan - from one "Anna" to another.

Maybe she doesn't have an explanation or doesn't want to look like she's making excuses? I have no idea, I would love to hear from her.

Oh, don't let Sugarpova hear you say that! She half killed me for describing Anna as Ukrainian a couple of months ago. :drama:

But, just between us, you know that comment I made during the Short Dance. Well, I was actually including Anna in that statement. ;)

In fact, all you need to do is substitute Alisa's name for Anna's, and it would still be totally accurate! :agree:

So, how appropriate it is that they are together in this photo!

Anna said she wouldn't mind going to the World Team Trophy, but the federation didn't even discuss it with her. :(:dev2: Not nice...

And in this article, even Buyanova (with no dog in this fight) says it is incomprehensible for the Federation not to include her, and Anna deserves to go. She's not my favorite person but she is absolutely right here.

What? That's disgusting behaviour! And probably what we can expect next season in spades. Anna even won NHK this season, I'm sure the japanese fans would be thrilled to see her. I want her to rest, but not if she herself doesn't want to and would love to go and have a positive experience at the end of the season. It's so hard to be her fan, because the unfair situation she's finding herself in, time and time again. It's frustrating. Feeling helpless and not knowing what to do....
