2016-17 State of Russian Ladies skating

What is the status of Tuk? She seems to have been written off by most fans. Has she been interviewed about her status? If she's not going to retire, I'm surprised that she doesn't make these lists at all. Very much like Gracie. I would rather see both ladies retire than come back unmotivated and skating badly. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

She did make my list.:) But then, she's my Queen, so she always will.:)

As for her status; she hasn't retired; at the moment she is in Switzerland:

Thank you for posting that picture. She is certainly still gorgeous !!! Even if she does retire, she can be proud of literally climbing to the top of the figure skating World in 2015 and that season will always be in my memory.

Still gorgeous??? And at the ripe old age of 19, too!

But I know what you mean. Her regular pictures always surprise me with her beauty. Her style team, whoever it is, doesn't do her any favors with the costumes. But her jump technique is wow.

ETA: She turned 20 in December. Oops.

Is she really only 19? Yikes.......Now I feel weird but, you know what I mean. She's a lovely gal. How's that.....:drama:

Good. :) But I just checked her Wiki, and she turned 20 in December. I was remembering that she was 19 in the fall, I guess.

Still, 20 is very young to be in a conversation about leaving skating. Isn't Carolina Kostner, 30? Ashley Wagner is 25 and I don't hear any talk of her retirement. Of course, Ashley actually made the US team and Tuk didn't make the Russian Team. Mirai is older than Tuk and didn't make the US team and she's sticking around. The field is so deep in Russia that I feel like Tuk will have a much more difficult time just making the team.

Liza may stick around because of her coach. For some reason, Mishin does not have many top skaters in recent years. Liza is still her best; Liza 2.0 is still much of a hype.

God, I love this girl so much. She is so thoughtful and introspective, and is really trying so hard to be a grown woman and an actress and an artist on the ice. From the soul, not just because she is being told what to do.

She thinks that everyone doing the tano/Rippon makes it boring

Growing up in skating doesn't only involve puberty - it's easier to skate consistently when you are young because of your immature mentality. As you mature, the weight of competition grows more real. Very interesting.

"What's the point of representing a country with no competition? My rivals are pushing me forward."

"What is tango in childhood? Coach choreographed and you skate it. Just moves. As I grew up, I began to invest myself into a dance. After all everyone imagines it in his own way. The tango of 2014, with which I first flew to the World Championships, is incomparable with the dance of 2017."

She thinks her LP next season will have strong female vocals, which idk if I'm a fan of - no opera please! Something modern and dramatic!

Her short responses about her Helsinki LP made me sad though. :(

she has been "this young skater". and She has never been consistent.. even as a junior.... :whack:
so don't get her point here...

IMO when somebody speaks like they're 50 y.o or like they're so old and so mature at age 18/19.... it's always so funny for me.

haha I remember that I read here (RN threads?) that she tried to learn it but couldn't make it.:luv17:

anyway i wish good luck to Anna))). :luv17: love here

To me there is nothing mystifying in what Anna said about consistency being easier at a younger age - Liza has said something similar too:

http://fs-gossips.com/elizaveta-tuktamysheva-with-age-head-becomes-heavier-not-body/

In the entry lists appear more and more girls born in 2000th. Don’t you feel aged lady in such a company?

– To be honest, it’s unusual. I still remember myself at that age. These 3-4 years passed very quickly. And now they look at me from the bottom up, and address formally. I have nothing against, young people should motivate or figure skating won’t progress. Rivals younger than you are one of those nuances that will always be. You need to accept it and work on yourself in order to beat them – young, light, who don’t think much about what is happening.

With age, are there more weight in the body or head?

–  In my head, of course. Everything turns out at trainings, I got used to my body, I feel comfortable. I have a very interesting psychological background. I love to make mountains out of molehills.

ETA - Oh, and for that matter - so has... Plushenko. He said that when he was 15 and went to senior Worlds' he had no idea what he was getting himself into, competing against skaters who "were already legends", and none of that phased him at all.

I love this interview! In many ways, Anna's answers fulfill what I imagined to be true of her. It just goes to show that the best skaters do reveal themselves on the ice, if they're using real emotions.

Interviewer: Seemed your have grown up steadily.

Anna: – "I had to work very hard for it to seem so. A centimeter of height and already something is not right. Plus a year and it’s already harder, two years – more! Therefore, we have to adapt the technique to make it possible to jump with changes in the body. And you have to think and plan more. Now I don’t grow up in height any more, if from 14 to 16-17 I was growing up physically, then after 16 I’m growing up mentally. How the child thinks – to go on the ice and do everything quickly. All you need to do, it’s to do what your coach says. And now you understand that you represent a country, that the audience applaud for a reason. And this requires additional efforts to keep the balance."

Anna expresses so much. I enjoyed her remarks about her brother, mother and father. Also mentioning Jason's wow Russian split jump.

I wouldn't mind seeing Anna on the Olympic team. If she earns it, I have no doubt that she will be put on. Assuming Evgenia and Alina maintain form, Russia really needs nothing from its third entry. The person is unlikely to do the team event and unlikely (but possible) to medal in the individual event. The only person who could shake up the top two, IMO, is Polina T.

My dream Olympiad team: Anna, Evgenia and Yulia.

Who I think will go: Evgenia, Anna/Elena (bet is on Anna) and Alina

Don't bet that much to a junior. Despite her great technique ( he'll I really love these long legs extending after the jumps ) , the various combinations and beautiful arms over the head ( aesthetically better than Med IMO) her PCS MUST be low not only as every junior turning into a senior ( except Polina fingers crossed for a injury free season ) but Alina may not be able to reach a good PCS so soon. Of course , nationals are nationals and the best technician probably will win that spot. And don't forget people , puberty! A single word and you are out.
My dream team : Medvedeva , Polina and Anna.
As much as I LOVE Yulia and she is the one who bring tears every time she skates , FS is a sport too and I don't see her has the strong technique for Olympics. I wish she doesn't retire because FS will be different without her despite her short career.
